I've been using Fahrenheit since I was in grade school and that's how the country has been for a very long time. BUT the whole flippin' world is on the Celsius train. WHY CAN'T WE HOP ON?

Would the transition be too messy? Would the old people get confused? Or are we just lazy?

I am for the change Celsius

Nah, I like imperial better.

Metric only good for measuring liquids, and baking cakes imo.

Only thing I don't like about imperial is.... WTF is a cup? I had to ask my mom that once.

This.

Shipping companies will be the last to switch though. They still all use imperial in Canada.

It's not that hard to do a conversion when/if you have to. We're already set in our ways. Leave it be.

8 ounces. BAM, no mom or wiki for that one! idk if it's different in fluid.

No. I like it. It's unofficial here in Canada, but most people use it for personal heights and weights, just cause it's easier to visualize.

Guam, Alaska, Puerto Rico all use it.

I'd never be able to adjust to it. Having it be 40 degrees in the middle of summer would just never sound right.

Let them be imaginary. Ounces abbreviated to OZ, where the Z came from lol. And Pounds abbreviated to lbs, which, by the way stands for Lots of BullShit.

America should do a lot of things...

Using the same measuring system as the rest of the world, is probably one of them.

I've been using Celsius all my life but actually consider Fahrenheit the better scale. For instance, between 5 and 10 (41--50F) or 15 and 20 (59--68F) degree Celsius there are just 5 degrees each, but in terms of temperature sensation there's quite a difference here which is better reflected by the more detailed Fahrenheit scale, Imo.

The imperial system is retarded generally speaking, and the Fahrenheit is not different. Switch to metric and leave that shit behind already.

Yes, if only because converting from Fahrenheit to Celsius/Kelvin is much more of a pain in the ass than other conversions.

You have a compelling reason for us to change it? Because the rest of the world does isn't good enough. It hurts no one. Our population is used to it. Why change?

You are in no position to tell ANYBODY they're not intelligent.

When you learn how to spell and can actually make a post that makes sense, then maybe we'll take your exceptionally stupid opinion into consideration.

It has nothing to do with the words you use but the opinion itself.

How about you just not be so ridiculously stupid in the future? It's one thing to have a controversial opinion. It's an entirely different thing to have a stupendously moronic opinion.

We shouldn't use any units whatsoever. Just numbers. That'll confuse the shit out of everyone today.

Bob: It's 17 today.

This guy does the best unpunctuated parodies of americans, using just allcaps

granted, it's a niche posting style; like being a sculpturer dedicated to making spaghetti busts. but I like it. It's predictable and easy to read from far away

Agreed. I don't understand Celsius and don't really care to learn it. The only Celsius temps I know of is 0 C= 32 F & 100 C = 212 F, LOL.

Yes, speaking Spanish automatically makes you use Metric.

We don't say Thousand, hundred, etc...

We say: Mill, cien, etc...

Just because the signs around Jan Juan and other "white areas" are in English and Imperial doesn't mean it's what the island utilizes.

PR uses Metric and Spanish in the schools. The only reason the speed limits are in MPH is because the majority of the cars are from mainland USA, which don't have metric speedometers (older small cars).
