I've said it many times, if you really wanna make stuff like this you gotta do it anonymously and let the internet (pirating community basically) distribute it. Yes you can't get all the fame and glory, at least not as your real self, but there's no way to shut it down.

What really surprises me is that they raised the price, this was a "value" priced game way back, got some pre-orders in back then. When I saw the price increase I saw nothing in the alphas/betas that seemed to justify it, I was like umm what??? :)

I like GTA games but I feel like they need to do something really new with the whole mission based structure. Missions still always have a fixed beginning and end, they are usually just fail or pass. I wanna see something that "flows" with the open world more, you do stuff and it just happens in the world not in some instanced start and end mission sequence, at least more like that and more of it anyway.

Also some more interesting citizen AI, more density, more persistence, just gimme more! :)

@risingdawn: Yeah it's pretty obvious AR can way more easily integrate into our lives. It's kinda funny how when this new age of VR was starting people would respond to criticism by saying well look at smartphones. Of course that was silly for many reasons, like the fact that there's tonnes of tech in history that failed :), but more specifically I always liked to point out that VR is sorta the opposite of smartphones, it doesn't exploit our laziness, short attention spans, give us ultra convenience, be with us all the time, let us switch between it and other stuff in a fraction of a second.

But AR can do that, if it gets small enough and cheap enough. No matter how small and cheap VR gets it will always require much more effort/commitment/time which is exactly what people don't want to do and a big part of why smartphones (especially mobile gaming) has become so huge.

@J_P-: They won't :), always gotta broaden that audience more and more and more, it's never enough money, so they keep "streamlining" it more and more. Eventually the franchise just dies anyway, as even the new audience gets bored with it, then it goes into hibernation to later return as once again a totally different genre :).

@pmanden: So many weird and wonderful games too. Maybe more of a result of the times overall than the C64 itself, but I loved how there weren't necessarily clearly defined genres and many games were very cool blends of the different genres we might identify nowadays.
