Japan clearly didn’t get Hogwarts boycott memo…

This place…
I post information from a Microsoft site, that shows a low MAU number for a large region, and Lems hur dur themselves into a tizzy, claiming some kind of victory…
But what do we expect. When numbers, metics and stats can’t be used to rank the performance of the big 3, this is the kind of shit that happens. 2013 forever changed the System Wars landscape, and did permanent damage to the hearts and souls of Lems.
@Grey_Eyed_Elf: Its a catch 22. Game quality and support won’t get better until there’s an install base and consistent return on investment for devs. But that won’t happen without the software…

We did it! Another successful boycott!
This pic is starting to represent you more than anyone else at this point. The more numbers we get, the crazier the shit Phil and Co. has said appears to be. These numbers represent 17 countries… Even being generous and doubling the number to represent the rest of Europe and Asia leaves like 112 million MAUs missing from Xbox’s total… Again, that’s like 1/3 of the US population… Explain how they get to that number…
"The table below reflects information on average monthly active recipients of service in the European Union in accordance with the EU Digital Services Act and may not be representative of other statistics or metrics."
That ended quite quickly.
EU specific information… Posted on the Microsoft website… Only provided because the DSA requires it… What’s the problem?

When it comes to Xbox results, Microsoft is usually very stingy with details. The EU Digital Services Act forces the firm to loosen its tongue and give figures. And in Europe, they are low. We can read that on the video game side, Microsoft estimates that it has an average of 4 to 6 million users of its online game store, depending on whether they access it from an Xbox console or the website. Let's keep in mind that the Xbox is a platform where buying games online is highly favored by gamers. The Xbox Game Pass is also not available in all countries of the European Union.

So are we to believe like 1/3 of the U.S. population are Xbox MAUs, or…
Uncharacteristically, I do... Unless Actiblizz just wants to dissolve itself into smaller studios and kill the publishing side. That would be cool. Actiblizz, as it is, is irredeemable.
This is why ISPs are always rated the worst companies in the US. The problem is simple: they lie. We could talk at length about how corporate self-regulation is a horrible joke, but this isn't the politics forum. So I will just say I disagree.
Some folks foolishly believe that companies should regulate themselves. There is not much you can do for folks who subscribe to such foolery.
What makes you think any government in the world is capable of regulating ANYTHING effectively? ESPECIALLY the U.S. government… We had a chemical disaster in Ohio recently, and it’s the fault of regulators and politicians. But please, let’s have them protect consumers from evil video game companies… 🙄

Of course. Out of principle. Two companies agree on the acquisition, it should go through. The government has no place in such dealings.

The government you’re looking to for intervention with the ABK deal is the same government that is responsible for the ISP mess we have today… Are you SURE you want them MORE involved in things???
