Im passing it because its generic open world RPG in harry potter skin.

Not a huge Harry Potter fan, but exploring the castle/school looks like great fun.

Any new specifically on the pc version: what is being done about shader compilation? What about the hefty ram requirements?

Already got it preordered! A bit worried that the pc version is apparently a bit unstable… but then again it’s on steam, so if it’s a problem, I’ll just refund it:)

Well I just purchased it digitally due to good reviews. Hopefully the reported technical issues not that serious to hamper my enjoyment. Tbf even in the dev gameplay there lots of pop in and fps drops but hopefully devs patch most of it.

Gutted there isn't a co-op. This was the game me and my daughter have been waiting to play.

No[...] shader compilation stutter, the game compiles the shaders when you first launch it. It has, however, some traversal stutters.

Found some info on the PC version: so the same story as with Dead Space.

Awesome, it seems like I'm going back 2 school!

I'm very happy to see the developer confidence with them shipping PC review copies as well. Most of the time they just ship PS5 review copies and call it a day.

Like with callisto protocol: I'm 100% convinced that even PC gamer got a PS5 review copy and couldn't even try it out on PC. But them clicks.

I was going to pass on this game initially, but this part had me sold:

If true, that's a pretty appealing summary. Just using the license, but doing it's own thing, yet rivalling the material the game is based off of.

Here is some action from the game.

Gonna sail the seven seas first if there will be the opportunity, because can't trust gameplay vids. It may look fun from the outside, but when it is you at the helm of the controls, the feeling might be quite different [looks at Ghost of Tsushima with regret of buying it] and then decide whether I should spend money on it.

It is weird to say not to bring politics race and gender in games when so many games are just that. It's more like "I don't want to have a discussion about specific topics " because this game and the core story of Harry Potter is about politics,prejudices and race.

@mrbojangles25: to me it always seemed like a type of Bully experience: you're playing a student and you're in this really bustling and interesting high school.

I'm passing because I really don't want to give any money to JK Rowling, since she's a horrible human being. Plus I completely lost interest in the Harry Potter series back in 2000-2002.

Still, I'm surprised this is getting good reviews. I wonder what people without nostalgia will think of it, once the honeymoon period wears off.

As for Rowling, it is sad the money does go straight to her (I assume she get's a % of all things Harry Potter), but the content is inclusive, and there's a few thousand people involved through all the games, books, films, and so on that aren't bigots and are also profiting from this.

I don't resent anyone for wanting to boycott Harry Potter and I certainly get it, but I don't think we should condemn any that enjoy partaking.

Maybe this is one of those things where we (the royal we, that is) can actually just agree to disagree, and leave it at that.

Sounds like it turned out pretty well. Not a big Harry Potter fan so will pass on it myself. Might try it when it hits Game Pass though.

@mesome713: @Planeforger: Just to clarify things. JK Rowling has nothing to do with the making of Hogwarts Legacy at all. This has been said many times JK won't get nothing out of it and as R4gn4r0k said, leave political out of our games, thank you. Sure she'll get little money mainly just on the license but not a lot from the game sales but that shouldn't be a factor to anyone's enjoyment of this game. That being said, I'm still a fan of Harry Potter/Fantastic Beast so of course I'm buying this game on PC.

I'm 17 hours into Dead Space and even there people complain that it's not long enough for the money.

For me it's all quality over quantity. I like shorter games that I can possibly finish in my life span.

PC version sounds excellent, DSO gaming will do a right up later today with all the tidbits on performance.
