@Lulu_Lulu: Name one game that is like Demon's Souls. Name one game that is like Dark Souls. Name one game that is like Bloodborne. And I'm not talking about gameplay or technical aspects. I'm talking about presentation, atmosphere, art style, theme, mood--basically all of the aesthetic aspects, but also the deeper metaphysical/spiritual substance within these games. That is where the originality comes from. There is no other game, in my experience, quite like any of those titles in this respect.

But aesthetics HAVE to be original in any game. The one thing you have to do is create a game that can stand on it's own by it's looks. If a game copies creature design for example, then immediately everyone will scream rip-off. It's the basic rule for the visuals in a new game. That doesn't mean that game has accomplished something significant in terms of originality.

Valkyria Chronicles is very good but it's more strategy than rpg or like some people call them SRPG. And if you own a half decent PC, Divinity: Original Sin is the best in the recent memory. Suikoden 2 still looks ok for a sprites game, at least it's better than early aweful 3d models of FFVII

I loved the idea of Valkyria, but the turn based combat system has a fundamental flaw in its logic where the computer could literally beat you in pretty much every battle so they nerfed the AI to compensate. This one aspect really annoys the crap out of me and it kind of ruins the game for me. Other than that, the game is great. Cool idea, interesting story, nice perm-death/soldier progression system where everyone has their own mini-backstory, etc.

There are a ton of games where the AI could beat you at any moment though. Are you saying that they did a bad job of hiding it or something? I could understand that.

Your second paragraph is almost exactly how I would describe the game. The only thing lacking at all IMO, was the main story was forgettable. Everything else was amazing. I was surprised as well that VATS never got boring. Funny enough though, after the first hour of New Vegas I never used VATS again. Idk why but it was way more fun not using it.

I'm sure more will come to mind after posting but the one at the top of my head is where the game would crash on Starcraft if anyone (including you) was looking at a drone that quickly canceled the construction of a creep colony. When first discovered it was a really cheap way to defeat your opponents.

What? I've never heard of this. Did they fix it early?

The first 3 generations of pokemon games all erased my save file at some point. And for my red version it happened multiple times.

It's actually brilliant. I'll say the same thing I said 10 years ago, this way he's not too hot and not too cold.

Maybe I'm a little insane, which is likely the case, but LO makes me think of the FF Lightning cess pool...maybe it's just the art style. Any thoughts on Takes of Xillia, Tales of Symphonia, or Rainbow Moon?

Takes of Xillia, and Tales of Symphonia are good games but their fast pace takes away from the combat and make it more about how well you press buttons than how you control the party. They do not have as rich of enemies.

Any personal preference between the two?

I haven't played Xillia yet but Symphonia is easily one of the best Tales games.

They are trying to keep the Cyclone but I just don't think it will work. Two nerfs for the Ravager, no one will use it now. Protoss is still underpowered. They will have to do something to Protoss in later updates, focusing on Terran and Zerg right now.

Lost Odyssey on the 360 is basically an old FF game set in a different universe. Turn based and very old school.

This. If you get it OP make sure to watch all the optional dream sequences. Amazing.
