the whole pandas and pokemon arena stuff definitely isn't for me personally, BUT, I saw a poll recently that showed this game is very successful with 8-12 year old Chinese boys, nerds who live in their parents basement, and furries (people who do it in fur costumes) cant wait to see what the next expansion is!!
i played a couple of the early open betas... it had A LOT of rough edges but some of that could already be fixed by launch.. hopefully... while it does follow some of the generic mmo formula, it does a lot of original things as well. i dont know about you guys but im completely burnt out on goblins and elves for awhile... that being said, i think the premise for the games story is really cool. and the combat and game mechanics were slightly fresh compared to other things that are currently out. had a very dark and evil feel to the game which i also liked. another thing that some others mentioned as well is the fact that you really gotta think and explore in order to get through some quests and solve mysteries. if your tired of ur current mmo this is definitely worth checking out imo
friends account got hacked yesterday... they rolled him back. he lost a ton of his progress and stuff anyway. seems like if u get hacked ur almost better just not rolling back and taking the loss because the roll back system isnt very helpful. he's worked in IT type jobs his whole life, very aware of how mal/spyware, hacks, etc work... this isnt on the user end like fanboys are saying... i feel like battle.net is not secure... IMO... and while im enjoying the game with my friends, i dont think its THAT amazing... if i was to grind to inferno with a ton of amazing gear just to get hacked and rolled back to nightmare with all my high-end gear lost... not sure i would wanna keep playing...
i totally agree about the number of exclusives diminishing. and the fact the ps3 was so much more expensive at launch and a year later than xbox cant be ignored... i agree about services too. xbox live does work well but honestly i think paying the 40 bucks a month or whatever is a rip off... but a lesser known fact is that there are more registered playstation online profiles than paying xbox live... myself being a pc gamer mostly, cant see myself paying for online functionality... i think sony, if kept free online, could have a nice advantage this next time around if they could improve on their services like you mentioned...
