well aware what the fans expect huh?

no matter how good this may possibly turn out to be, those that consider themselves Blizzard/Warcraft fans these days are going to rage, and rage hard... simply because they're self entitled morons that feel the need to make everyone else listen to their opinion (I know that's a gross generalisation... not all, but it is a pretty sizeable number).

I hope it does turn out well, but Blizzard had better expect another tidal wave of flaming on their own forums... but then I suppose the should expect that everytime they release something.

it'll be interesting anyways to see what they classify as true to the Warcraft experience. WoW lore may seem rich, but it's also heavily infested with pop culture references and an overall sense that whoever still works at Blizzard has forgotten that Warcraft is specifically a parody of Warhammer. Will they make mistakes of taking parody aspects of the lore too seriously? Hopefully the director has enough power in this, being that he says he's an old timer from the early days of Warcraft RTS, to not let the Blizzard/Activision marketing machine infect the film.

Let's face it, this is the main reason why story rich game-to-movie attempts have been so horrible. Max Payne? Prince of Persia? Both dumbed down and ruined compared to the stories in the games, an both unsalvagable despite the superb visual effects use in either. A lot of people blame Hollywood, but the publisher's that own the franchise rights are moreso to blame as it is THEIR product.

@xsonicchaos the film industry was in the dark ages in the 30's is what he was saying, and on a creative level it's fairly true.

But that's not an accurate comparison, and it doesn't take into account how the money side of the games industry is even more exploitative than the film industry ever was... and Hollywood is guilty of some truly shameless cash-ins.

But on the creative side... how can everything be considered primitive and unpolished in this 30's dark ages claim? Was Max Payne, Grand Theft Auto 3 onwards, L4D... and on and on and on... do we forget the cleaver things they still do better than the swarm of clones that have followed?

I guess that's what happens when you get lost in the world of franchises, you can't see originality in the world even when it's staring your right in the face.

And even on the hardware side... step outside the slow world of consoles and things are moving extremely fast. PCs, Mobile... Occulus Rift. A lot is going on. Dark ages my arse.

@PixelAddictno go on, poke them with a stick once more, see if they still take you dead seriously.

See this is what this novel is for, the new generation that have a literary background of s few Blue's Clues colouring and the abundant genius of forum sentence structuring floating about these days.

longterm fans and newcomers? Let's make everybody happy?

Typical mass market hype for a mediocre game to make the shareholders happy?

"EA, it's in the game"

nice, so we'll get RDR with all DLC's at a reasonable price. If not on release, 12 months later it'll be dirt cheap on a steam sale.

I wonder if they'll bring the last Midnight Club over too.

@Ravenherder look a few comments down, there's a dude making the claim all chicks bring drama to the work place. Sadly that kind of ignorance on how the real world works is a common thread in the comments below, so I'm not generalising.

Her position, what I said... calling a spade a spade is being on a high horse to you? Cowards confirm to a pack mentality and try to beat down anyone that speaks up against the herd. Perhaps you need to poke your head up above the filth.

And if you had read her comments, she starts it off by pointing out that she's not bad mouthing the company, just the culture that is within the company, the attempt of a few to pretend it doesn't exist.

Seems like my comment extends to you as well. Get a job and work with a team that you actually get along with REALLY well, then see how "grateful" you are for managerial corruption trying to erode your team, or keep your team down... and if you have the balls to move on, are you just going to abandon your former team, or now that you're not within the reaches of being "punished" by said supervisors/managers... are you going to let your comrades continue to suffer when you can speak up about it.

Corrruption in the real world, in the work place... it's far too common and the consequences of speaking up are serious for those that aren't born with a silver spoon, or generally have a cushy family life to fall back into. Corruption is tolerated far too often because of this never ending cycle... and because people like you instantly question anyone that doesn't conform as being "ungrateful" and "immature".

Love how many retarded morons on this page are bashing her. You can tell they:

A) Live at home with mummy and daddy and have no job... or
B) Have a shit minimum wage job that illustrates how unwilling they are to actually do something more with their life, ie it's their own fault for being content with their stoopid mentality and feeling trapped in a crap job.

she's talking about high school clique-ee behaviour in the company, and that's more than fair to be pissed off with... especially when you reach that turning point where you have to walk away from a job you love and worse, an ideal team of folks you're a part of.

I work a job that is, on paper, rather enjoyable and pays pretty damn well, but because of some turds that have some managerial power, and are always playing games under the table with their friends, and against everyone else... it makes it very difficult to not hate the job, not because of the job, but because of the people.

Good for her for choosing her integrity over a stable pay cheque. Even better that she's speaking up in a civil manner about things that are still going to plague the good folk she is leaving behind. Shit like this happens everywhere in the job market BECAUSE people don't take a stand and put their passion and self respect in front of the $ sign.

Nice to see Gabe had no problems letting her take her baby with her though, You can be sure NO other CEO in an even mid sized company in the games industry would have said yes to that.

For all you bums that are attacking her, go out and get a job. A job you actually enjoy and care about doing at least half a decently... see all the kiss arses grab the easy and juicy overtime over you, and everyone else that hasn't sold their souls, while a corrupt manager/supervisor throws you scraps when THEY'RE desperate and expects you to say "yessum suh, I'z be doin it rightz away boss." See if you still enjoy the job after a month of that, let alone a year, let alone a few years.

@NotCeo he's kinda right though... differences in culture... he's clearly been spending a lot of time in DRM-topia where the citizens cry for their right to impose the CHOICE of their agenda on everyone else.

A remake of the classic has been on Android for awhile now, is this the same thing?

I don't get why everyone is whining... the original PoP has been remade so many times, on every platform too it seems. How is it people are hurt that this particular repeat of a repeat is hitting mobile devices only.

... and when are the lot of you going to see the equation: Big Name Publisher + Franchise = Shameless Cash-Ins.

Just cause you have fond memories of a game doesn't make the new one good, no matter how much money they'll spend on it.

Notice the buzz words in the trailer that are at odds with the actual footage? "Stunning" new artwork... there have been prettier remakes of PoP. "New"? A remake of THE oldest title in the franchise... wake up, it's a successful franchise in the game world, it's destined to be shat upon.

I can imagine "Bethesda" being the reason for him leaving. While iD still owned themselves, this would have been an insane move... but now? If he stays in the games industry, it'd be interesting to see where he goes.

But seriously, a reboot of Doom? What's there to reboot anyway? It never really had enough of a story, even in Doom 3, to justify the claim it's being rebooted. Don't get me wrong, I've always enjoyed Doom, but enough with the marketing bullshit. Reboot means "redone without the involvement and/or approval of the original creators, but we the conglomerate own the franchise now so, suck it!"

What happened to Bethesda, they used to be goo.... oh wait, Zenimax, that's right.
