This is really brilliant. All Valve has to do is insert, then snip, then insert code again into their steam database, or this trademark databse when they feel like it.... look at all this free press and ongoing fandom buzz.
CoD spent how many 10's of millions on advertising, product placement, shelf space? They need to come out with a new release each year to keep the franchise moving along or they know it'll die (like MoH did back in the day, remember?). When HL3 finally comes out it'll steal the spotlight from a lot of mega franchises everyone thinks are leading the way right now.
Going to be fascinating when it does finally come out.
a lot of classy comments below... this is a good example of how unhealthy the games industry is. Morons pumping out mega AAA franchises... and even more moronic kids buying them.
@Cryptic_Shadow Samsung has taken the lead in that too. How many variations do they have now on everything? A 6", 7" 8" Note phone... 7", 8", 10" Tab3.... they're going crazy with fragmenting their product line.
This portable techno addiction is way WAY out of hand now.
@goku2000 to be fair the 64 bit thing is the first real step up other than small increments of speed and resolution thus far in the iphone/pod/pad range.
Too bad most of that 9 million have no idea when and how that 64-bit is being used... other than what the brochure tells them. If it weren't for the mention, they wouldn't notice the difference in what most of them use their i-products for.
@BlackSquare 1) it was a joke 2) Kotick clearly doesn't play by the rules, and it's becoming more and more obvious his performance based income is not enough for him.
UDK, CryEngine, Unity... all free to learn and publish (on an indie level at least)... all monumentally more advanced in terms of default graphics power, physics potential, stock netcode... etc.
Games are easier to make for cheaper now, more than ever.... not the other way around.
@Max_160 and those same lawsuits serve as media reinforcement that GTA is not only relevant but the most potent franchise force in the world of gaming = even more eager anticipation for a new sequel.. and they'll buy that one for their kids again.
