I want in, but I want a position as a designer, not a programmer.  I went through college for Software Engineering and I had alot of fun learning how to write software, mostly with C++.  I just dont have my heart in writing code as a job.  I think its great that I understand things from a technical perspective, and it will be a big boon to me later on.

For years I have been persuing a career as a professional writer, my skills have really improved since I started and I'm close enough to getting published that I can smell it.  I am working up a compilation of Sci-Fi novelettes that I intend to shop around to different agents when finished.

I have created a Sci-Fi world called the "End Age".  The era I'm concentrating on developing is over 3000 years in the future when humanity spans the entire galaxy and controls everything, a time where humans are the sole superpower of our galaxy.  As I'm working on the novelettes I'm also working on a game design for "The Ultimate Sci-Fi RPG" set in the same era.

I plan to pitch the game to some developers in hopes one of them will help me take the concept to a publisher and get funding.  Before I try to send off the pitch I am going to develop the game design fully, create concept models for all the vehicles, "actual size" concept models for all the weapons, video prototypes demonstrating select parts of the interface and the combat system, and get some of the stories published so the world is established in print.  This will obviousally take time and alot of work, but I have nothing better to do with myself, and I love being creative.

Currently, I have 3 of the planned 5 novelettes completely finished, one is written but needs considerable work, and the other is about 80% outlined.  I have the first concept model about 75% complete, my first ever scratchbuilt model, so that has been a learning experience.  The design document for the game is a completely unmanageable cluster of 300+ pages... I am starting over, cleaning up and redesigning the crafting and character system to be much more simple.  I'm going to make the prototypes with Blender, I have alot of experience with that program, but I'm not going to start on those until I finish with the design document.

If they took the Link to the Past world and made a new, really long, 3d game, that would be awsome.   I would not want to see a flat remake of LTTP in 3d, Ive already played it beginning to end 4 different times...

[QUOTE="nate111"]anyone know of a good two player game? SSBMFighter

pikmin 2 has a fun 2 player

SSBM is great for any about of players

SC2 is fun if you didn't like the style in SSBM

MKDD is a great and really fun racing experince espically with friends

007 Everything or Nothing has some 2 player co-op splitscreen action, but I'm not sure how many missions are there.  I played it a couple times at a friends house and it was alot of fun the way the mission objectives are setup that require to you work as a team.

Just thought I would chime in and say I bought a MicroCon wireless controller from MadKatz for only $19 new and its great.  Better than the wavebird IMO.  You may be unsure at first because it is smaller than a standard controller, but I think its much better at the smaller scale.

Game based movies or not, the studios are still going to churn out some trash now and again.  Ever see Invincible?  That movie is just horrendous and has nothing to do with a game.  The problem is that games inherently have weaker stories than typical movie productions, though that gap is closing on both sides.  With big-budget action movies having weak stories and big-budget games having better stories, go figure that one out.

Looking over my collection, most of the games with storys or worlds that could support a good movie are not orignal game IPs.  KOTOR, Splinter Cell, Riddick...

Games like Ninja Gaiden, Half Life, Metroid, and Beyond Good and Evil all have great potential to become "good" movies.  It's just a matter of the license holders willing to risk the franchise on a media conversion that so often misses the mark.

The only game-to-movie projects I have liked were the Tomb Raider and Resident Evil ones.  The first Mortal Combat was alright just because I love the Aussie that played Kano, ever see Men of War with him a Dolph?  Thats a good flick.  But really?  BloodRayne was a pretty pathetique game, why do you expect more from the movie?

You can buy empty GC cases directly from Nintendo cia their online store at Nintendo.com. They come in packs of 5 or 10, I believe.DrFish62

That sounds like an idea.  Thanks.
