Welcome to the Gamecube Recommendation Thread!

Yes, we are now in our third iteration! The last one was being not nice when I tried to format it, so we're starting with a brand new slate! The purpose of this thread is to help inform readers on what's worth picking up for the Gamecube. It's also a great place to ask any questions you have; we'll do the best to help! New features for this edition are the inclusion of Gamespot scores and user reviews. More information on the user reviews can be found in the fifth post on the page. Also, clicking on any of the titles of the games will take you to their Gamespot gamespaces. :)

The beginning...

Well congratulations, you're the proud owner/soon to be owner of a Nintendo Gamecube. There is a lot of good stuff out there, and it must be hard to know where to even begin. Getting a new console is exciting, but after laying down all the cash for the system itself, getting the best bang for you buck with everything else you need can be difficult. Take it from me, never buy a game you know nothing about when you get a new console just because it's cheap.... that's how I ended up with Unlimited Saga. This thread exists to help inform new users on the best games and accessories for their new console, and to help Gamecube veterans discover new and exciting games.

Accessories:

Gameboy Player, $50

If you want to play your Gameboy games on a bigger screen or don't have a Gameboy at all, the Gameboy Player is for you! It's compatible with all Gameboy games and lets you bring those titles to your TV.

Memory Card 16X, $35

$35 may seem a little steep for a memory card, but it's worth every cent. With this much space you won't have to worry about shuffling or deleting good data. I recommend always buying first party cards, because third party (MadCatz, etc.) have a tendency to lose data, and you wouldn't want that!

Wavebird Controller, $35

Ah, the Wavebird. What a great controller! The absence of cords is great... nothing to get unplugged, chewed by pets, tangled in anything... it's perfect. The distance is great, and so is the battery life. This is essential for Gamecube owners.

S-Video Cable, $16 for Nintendo brand, $7-$10 for third parties

If your TV is S-Video compatible, these cables will give you a better picture.

Component Video Cable, no longer sold at Nintendo's store.
If you have an HDTV, this will get you the best possible picture and will also enable 480p for many games. However, Nintendo recently discontinued these, so the only way to get them is through an auction site like Ebay or importing through a site like lik-sang.com, though the product is listed as "unavailable" right now. Recent Gamecubes do not have the slot for Component Cables, however. Good luck finding these, but if you have an HDTV, I can speak from personal experience that these are worth it-- MAILER_DAEMON.

It's Game Time!

Having the right games is the most important part of having a new system.  Below I'm going to give a summary of what I, and many other forumites, believe to be the best games on the system, the games that belong in any collection.  All of these titles are high quality and would make an excellent addition to anyone's game library.  I've organized them by genre so you can find the types of games you like more easily.

The format is the name of the game, Gamespot score, and price as listed from www.gamestop.com.  The second line in gold is special awards the game has won or was nominated for by Gamespot in the year it was released.  :)

Action/Adventure:

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem - 9.4, $10
Winner - Best Sound (GC), Best Story (GC) Best Graphics (Artistic) (GC); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Music (GC), Best Action-Adventure (GC), Best Voice Acting (Overall)
This is my favorite game for the Gamecube, hands down. Everything about it screams quality. The sound is amazing, the story is great, the puzzles are challenging, the sanity effects are innovative, the magick system is deep, the combat system is well done, the writing is superb, the voice acting is wonderful... I could go on and on about this game, but I'll stop here.  Suffice to say that this title belongs in everyone's Gamecube collection.  If you complain about the GC not having enough mature games, you haven't played Eternal Darkness.  It's a truly wonderful game.

Resident Evil 4 - 9.6, $35

Winner - GAME OF THE YEAR (Overall), BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Action-Adventure Game (Overall), Most Improved Sequel (Overall); Nominee - Best Graphics, Technical (Overall) Best Graphics, Artistic (Overall), Best Use of Upset, Disheveled Men (Overall)
Wow.  Wow is all I want to say when I think about this game!  It's got everything you could ever ask for in a game.  It never gets boring, plays well, looks gorgeous, and sounds great.  In RE4, you'll find yourself shooting up enemies in a variety of ways, all rendered in beautifully realistic graphics.  The developer's attention to detail in the game is meticulous, and that shows in so many ways when you play it.  Whether you've hated every other RE game (like me), or have been a long time fan of the series, Resident Evil 4 must be played!

Metroid Prime - 9.7, $6

Winner - GAME OF THE YEAR (Overall), BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Music (GC), Best Graphics (Technical) (GC), Best Action-Adventure (GC); Nominee - Best Sound (GC), Best Graphics (Artistic)
This is one of the best games on the system.  It's an adventure with lots of action, shooting, a bit of puzzle solving, and great boss fights.  There's a reason why Gamespot gave it Game of the Year,  and you really can't go wrong with this one.

The Legend of Zelda:  The Wind Waker - 9.3, $20

Winner - GAME OF THE YEAR (Overall), BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Artistic Acheivement (Overall), Best Action-Adventure Game (Overall)
This game definitely lives up to the Zelda name, which means its got fantastic gameplay, great dungeons, fun bosses, interesting characters, and is simply a joy to play.  The music in this game is one of its strongest aspects; I enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed the music from the previous games, which is saying a lot!  Don't let the (brilliant) cartoony graphics fool you, this game is excellent!

Resident Evil - 8.9, $15

Nominee - Best Story (GC), Best Graphics (Technical) (GC), Best Action-Adventure (GC)
I'm not an RE fan (which doesn't make them bad games or anything ^_^), so review by -NaS-: REmake is one of the most well known and popular games in the survival horror genre.  It has the best graphics for its time, good controls, scary camera angles, and a good B-movie story line.  You can't go wrong with this game.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - 8.2, $18

I finally got around to playing this game!  It's awesome!  It's got an interesting (although a little predictable) story and excellent stealth gameplay.  This game definitely won't disappoint you!  Review by -Nas-: The best stealth action game of all time has been remade and includes new features from Metal Gear Solid 2: The Sons of Liberty.  It's got a revamped story line, better graphics, improved enemy AI and more.  If you're a huge fan of Snake or like stealth games, this game is for you.

Metroid Prime 2: Echoes - 9.1, $20

Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Action-Adventure Game (Overall)
More of the same great gameplay given to us by Metroid Prime in addition to new multiplayer modes.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - 9.0, $18
Winner - Best Multiplatform Game (Overall); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Story (Overall), Best Technical Acheivement (Overall), Best Voice Acting (Overall), Best New Character - The Prince (Overall), Best Action-Adventure Game (Overall)
This game features platforming levels that stomp all over Mario!  The story is great and the interaction between Farrah and the Prince is hilarious.  The game looks, plays, and feels like a fairy tale.  It's one of my favorites on the Gamecube.

Prince of Persia
:  Warrior Within - 8.8, $18
Winner - Most Baditude (Dubious Honor) (Overall); Nominee - Most Light Bloom (Dubious Honor) (Overall)
I'll freely admit I'm not as fond of Warrior Within as I am of its predecessor, but it's still a solid game.  If you enjoyed Sands of Time, definitely pick up Warrior within, currently $18..  Here is a review of Warrior Within by Stormerx003:  I've been enjoying this game for quite some while.  This game has an amazing combat system.  Another fun thing about this game is the rooms you will encounter.  Most of them are like puzzles, which makes it very fun to figure out how to advance further.  I love the story line; I think it's really great.  This game has a lot of things that the original PoP was missing, so if you liked the original you should really pick up this game.  I've never played the original before this game, and I really loved this game.  I think everyone who has a Gamecube and loves games like these should really check it out.

Killer7 - 8.3, $30

Winner - Most Innovative Game (Overall), Best Character - Harman Smith (Overal); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Story (Overall), Most Outrageous Game (Overall), Most Gratuitous Use of F------ Swearing (Dubious Honor) (Overall)
Review by nintendo4life:  When you first play this game, you will be like, "What the mess is this?" but just give it time and you will realize it is one of the best games of this generation.  It has one of the best game stories ever.  The game play is unique yet easy to get in to.  Be warned that this is a title that deserves its M rating, and I really mean it!  The story is about terrorists, there are curse words, there are sexual themes; you name it and it will be in this game.  If that's not a problem, then you must get this game!  You may begin like this - :| , but you will find this game one of the most interesting ones on the Gamecube.

Beyond Good and Evil - 8.3, $13

Winner - Best Story (Overall); Nominee - Best Artistic Acheivement (Overall), Best Multiplatform Game (Overall), Best Action-Adventure Game (Overall)
This game has great stealth levels, good combat, fun vehicles, engaging characters, and a good story.  What more could you ask for?  A sequel, perhaps.  This is one of the most underrated games this generation, and it shouldn't be missed.

Prince of Persia
: The Two Thrones - 8.6, $50
This game concludes the new Prince of Persia trilogy.  It’s got more of the same great puzzle solving elements from the first two and is an excellent game over all.  The graphics are excellent

Role Playing:

Animal Crossing - 8.1, $20
Winner - Best RPG (GC), Most Innovative (Overall); Nominee - GAME OF THE YEAR (Overall), BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Classic Game Compilation (Overall), Funniest Game (Overall)
At first look you may not think this game is worth anything; however, after spending a few minutes with it you'll be hooked for months!  Animal Crossing is a game where you live as the only human in a town full of animals.  Exciting, right?  No matter what this game sounds like in words, this game is just a blast to play.  Your town, which you help create, feels like a real place.  You have neighbors, a mayor, holidays to celebrate, and a store.  The way this game integrates other people adds a whole new way to play.  There are four houses for people in each town, and the game is much more fun when your friends create characters to live in the town with you.  The animal characters love to gossip, and it can be pretty funny when an animal neighbor shares a letter your friend sent them (especially if your letters contain some interesting subject matter ;)).  You never know what these characters are going to say or do.   Also, if you insert a memory card with another town into the second slot, you can visit that town by train.  The town will have different fruit, items, and characters.  Characters from the town you visit may move to your town, and vice versa.  There is just so much to do in this game, and you get 100s of hours out of the $20 you spend.

Tales of Symphonia - 8.8, $18

Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Role Playing Game (Overall)
As I still haven't played this game (I want to!), this review comes from -NaS-:  Great RPG with 60 hours or more of gameplay and the most action packed battles seen in an RPG.  You should pick this one up if you haven't already.

Skies of Arcadia Legends - 7.5, $35

Review by Cheeto:  A lot of people might try to pass this game up because it's a Dreamcast port.  Don't make the same mistake they do.  Skies of Arcadia Legends is one of the best games I've ever played.

Paper Mario 2: The Thousand Year Door - 9.2, $50
Winner - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best RPG (Overall); Nominee - GAME OF THE YEAR (Overall), Best Story (Overall), Best Graphics (Artistic) (Overall), Funniest Game (Overall)
Review by Cheeto:  Because of the week long Thanksgiving vacation, I got a chance to rent Paper Mario 2 and was able to sit down for a few hours last night and play it.  What an awesome game.  It is pretty easy, but I don't see how somebody could hate this game.  It has great dialogue and really fun graphics.

Harvest Moon:  A Wonderful Life - 8.7, $18

I debated whether or not to put this game on the list, but because of recommendations from other forumites, I decided to.  It's a great game, although it's not for everyone.  The game is slow and relaxed and can sometimes be monotonous.  Still, there's something to be enjoyed in watching your crops grow and raising a family.  The game is L-O-O-O-O-N-G (so long, in fact, that I doubt many will complete it), but still very fun and a nice change of pace from the average run and gun game.  Here's Krome-Dishie's review:  Harvest Moon is a unique farming game that combines an intriguing story and addicting gameplay.  The game is surprisingly fun and stays that way for hours and hours.

Baten Kaitos:  Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean - 8.5, $18
Nominee - Best RPG (Overall, GC)
I got two great reviews for this game, so here are both of them!  :P  First, Schadenfreude: To cut to the chase, Baten Kaitos is simply a beautiful game that deserves the attention of RPG fans. Everything about it, from the stunning art style, beautiful environments, amazing characters models, innovative gameplay and good length add up surprisingly well for such a niche title. The most interesting part of the game is the interesting battle system, which is made up of thousands upon thousands of cards in a turn-based battle system. The mechanics work splendidly, and old-school RPG fans will have a hoot! The soundtrack is also pretty great but unfortunately the voice acting is terrible; at least you can turn it off. That being said, don't go into Baten Kaitos expecting anything at all like Tales of Symphonia or Paper Mario, as the games are immensely different, but it indeed delivers a fantastic experience, with a relatively interesting plot to boot.  Next, nintendo-4life: BATEN KAITOS: One of the best and most underrated RPGs for the GameCube, while the story is a bit cliché, and the voice acting isn't all that great , but it is without a doubt one of the most beautiful looking GC games you can ever find, as well as an interesting AND innovative battle system. Of course it can be somewhat difficult to get in to it, but once you do you'll get so hooked up that you will only let the controller down when you finish the game! Let me warn you, the game isn't for everybody. If you don't want to try it due to it's card battling system, then fear not because it's unlike any card game I have ever played.

Fighting:

Super Smash Bros. Melee - 8.9, $30

This is the best multiplayer game you can get on the GC, hands down.  It features frantic battles starring all of your favorite Nintendo characters.  Up to four people can play at a time.  The single player mode is fun, too, especially the adventure mode.  In adventure mode, you travel out of the normal fighting arena and navigate platforming levels reminiscent of famous Nintendo games.  The game has tons of unlockables, too.  You'll keep playing this game for years, especially if you can make use of the excellent multiplayer.

Soul Calibur II - 8.5, $13

Nominee - Best Fighting Game (Overall)
Want a good fighter for your Cube but aren't in to Super Smash Bros.?  Soul Calibur II is your game!  The fighting is fun, accessible to anyone, and the graphics are pretty.  There are several different game modes, including an at least ten hour long objective based Weapons Master mode.  There are also plenty of items to unlock, such as new weapons, stages, characters, and outfits.  This is a great fighting game.

Old School Shooter/Beat 'em Up:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection - 8.3, $15

Review by MAILER_DAEMON, Mega Man nut:  Mega Man is one of the longest running series in the history of video games, and with good reason.  For $30, you get Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 from the NES, 7 from the SNES, and 8 from the PS1.  There are also several unlockables, including a G4 segment that includes interviews with the creator of Mega Man, Keiji Inafune, which is exclusive to the Gamecube version.  Also, you can unlike The Power Battle and The Power Fighters, two Mega Man arcade games that are extremely rare outside of Japan.  There is tons of game play here, and you're basically getting 10 full length games for $3 each.  I give this my highest recommendation, although 7's port is rather shoddy and there are sound problems with four of the bosses in 8.  Other than that, this is one of the best deals you'll see anywhere.

Viewtiful Joe - 9.2, $10

Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Artistic Acheivement (Overall), Best New Character - Joe (Overall)
This game is very fun.  Great old school beat 'em up action with wonderful graphics and its own unique flavor.  The characters in this game are so funny!  The game is very cheesy, but in a good way.  It's got a nice challenge, too.  And remember, everyone loves a hero.  Everyone loves you.

Alien Hominid - 8.4, $18

Nominee - Funniest Game (Overall)
While I haven't played this yet, Sith05 (anyone remember him?  ) assures me that this game is great.  He hasn't led me to a bad game yet, so I think we can trust his advice!  I hope to pick it up as soon as a tackle my monumental backlog.  Anyway, Alien Hominid is a challenging old school shooter with a neat art style.  This game was pretty much homebrewed (it began on Newgrounds), which is very impressive.

Viewtiful Joe 2 - 8.6, $13

Joe gets an upgrade in this anticipated sequel.  Viewtiful Joe = fun, so Viewtiful Joe 2 = more fun!  :)

Racing:

Mario Kart: Double Dash!! - 7.9, $30

Review by -NaS-:  Great racing game if you have friends to play it with, but the single player modes are still fun.  It plays pretty much just like the earlier Mario Karts, but now you can use two players at a time and use team work to your advantage.

F-Zero GX - 8.6, $10
Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Racing Game (Overall)
Review by -NaS-:  Fast and fluid graphics, huge loops, big drops, and the ability to go three times the speed of sound!  What else could you want in a racing game?  But unless you're willing to take on an extreme difficulty, I assure you this game isn't for you!  It could result in broken pads and a lot of stress!  Don't say I didn't warn you!

Strategy:

Pikmin 2 - 9.2

Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC)
Pikmin 2 is miles ahead of its predecessor.  It fixes all the problems that most people had with the first (namely, the time limit), adds two new Pikmin types, multiplayer, caves, more areas to explore, gorgeous graphics, and a lengthy main quest.  It's my personal GOTY for 2004.

Fire Emblem:  Path of Radiance - 8.6, $50

Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best RPG (Overall)
The Fire Emblem series is a wonderful strategy series that's been in Japan for quite some time but has only made its US debut in this generation of consoles.  Path of Radiance is very similar to Fire Emblem on the Gameboy.  You manage a party of different types of characters and manage them in battle.  The story is wonderful and the gameplay is simply engaging.  It is pretty difficult in the later stages, but the game's informative tutorial levels will get you prepared.  Anyone interested should definitely try it out.

Battalion Wars - 8.3, $50
Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC)

Battalion Wars is a fun mix of strategy and action.  The game has its own quirky art style and characters, which is a big plus.  The campaign is long and varied.  It's definitely worth checking out!  :)

Sports:

Mario Power Tennis - 8.9, $50
Winner - Best Alternative Sports Game (Overall); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC)
Mario Power Tennis serves up a great tennis game (har har) and is one of the best multiplayer games on the Cube.

NBA Street Vol. 3 - 9.3, $50
Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Alternative Sports Game (Overall)

NBA Street is a fun arcade style basket ball game.  There's plenty of stuff to do, and even non sports fans like me will most likely enjoy it.  There's plenty of unlockables and customizations to keep you busy for hours.  :)

Puzzle:

Super Monkey Ball 2 - 9.0, $18
Winner - Best Party Game (GC); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC), Best Sound (GC)
Roll a monkey in a ball around a maze.  Simple gameplay (the only button you use is the control stick), but very fun and addictive.  There are lots of fun mini games to play, too.  If you are looking for a challenge, this game will give you one.  It's fun both by yourself and with friends.

Space Shooter/Flight Simulator (aka a game where you fly around in a plane and do stuff! :P):

Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II - 9.4, $10

This is one of the first games I got for my Gamecube, and I still play it.  Weaving-A-Dream wrote this mini-review:  Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II is a magnificent game, and arguably the Gamecube's best launch title, and also arguably the best Star Wars game to date.  It has absolutely phenomenal graphics.  Flying through space as Luke Skywalker has never looked so good!  The gameplay also shines.  You'll be flying around in your typical Star Wars ships (B-Wing, X-Wing, etc.), and it's basically a 3D space shooter, ala Star Fox.  It's very fun, and there's a lot of value with each level, as they'll all be a blast to play over and over again.  A very fun game and an all around great package.  However, it's a little short and would have seriously benefited from a multiplayer mode.

Ikaruga - 8.8, $25
Winner - Best Japanese Import (Overall); Nominee - BEST GAMECUBE GAME (GC)
Once again, Weaving-A-Dream writes a wonderful review:  If you're craving a good old-school shooter, Ikaruga is right up your alley.  If you prefer a light, easy game, run far, far away!  Ikaruga has everything you would expect from an old-school side scrolling space shooter, but also provides some incredible visuals and intense gameplay.  The graphics and sound are sharp, and set Ikaruga marginally apart from any other space shooter on the market.  But the gameplay is the real pride of this game, and makes this one of both the hardest and most fun games on the Gamecube.

First Person Shooter:

Timesplitters 2 - 8.7, $13

Winner - Best Shooter (GC); Nominee - Best Multiplatform Game (Overall)
Review by the super cool Krome-Dishie:  This is by far the best FPS for Gamecube and arguably the best FPS of this gen.  While the graphics are nothing amazing, the game makes up for it with a spectacular multiplayer that can be customized to any of your needs.

Timesplitters: Future Perfect - 7.6, $35

Review by the all around cool guy mah_azmi:  A charming, action packed, and hilarious homage to the days of Goldeneye, Timesplitters 3 is yet another great addition to the Timesplitters series of console FPSs.  Future Perfect, much like the second installment, throws you in to many different levels that are set in completely different time-zones in completely different themes.  Hence, with all these different time frames, the game screams out variety.  There are dozens of completely distinct levels, themes, characters, and, unlike Timesplitters 2, this game actually has a hilarious, well-written storyline and memorable characters that tie together the otherwise disconnected levels.  But that is only in the single-player story mode, whereas the real heart of Timesplitters 3 lies in it's wonderfully feature packed multiplayer, which has everything from TS2 and much more.  Timesplitters 3 has over 150 characters to unlock, a fully featured and easy to learn map maker, a co-op mode in the single player game (something which every good FPS needs nowadays), bots in multiplayer, very customizable multiplayer matches, smooth graphics, a pumping soundtrack, hilarious voice acting and dialogue, and tons of mini games - all of which makes for an essential Gamecube purchase.

Platformer:

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - 7.0, $55 with bongos, $40 without bongos

It was a little hard for me to decide which category to put this game in!  Rhythm game?  Platformer?  Rhythm platformer?  I just decided that "platformer" would suit it well.  In this original game, you control Donkey Kong not by using a traditional controller, but by using a set of bongos.  Here's a review by nintendo4life:  This game is by far one the best and most interesting platformers this generation.  The sound and graphics are very well done, but this is not where the game stands out.  The game play is like no other:  it is an excellent mixture of old fashioned platformers with EXTREMELY new game play, using the bongos to control the character.  It is a blast, believe me, performing combos and such never gets old.  Though it might be short (it takes about 8 hours to beat it 100%), it's nothing short of spectacular.  This game is true innovation, so get your bongos and start banging.  :D

That's all our games for now!  If you have any you would like to add to the list, PM me or post it in this thread and it will be considered.  :)  I need you to write the mini-review, though.  :)

Ok, we are back in business.  Hope you guys enjoy the changes.  Let me know if you find any typos or formatting errors; I don't see any now, but of course I'm pretty tired and I've been sitting here awhile.  :P

And my sneak attack APUSH test?  A miraculous 99.   Good thing I took the time to study last night... :P

I really like the new look, and can tell that you've worked hard on this. :)

Just one suggestion, though... in the accessories, maybe something could be said about the Component Cables... I'll write it up and e-mail it to you if you'd like.

Want to get your opinion heard or read more about these or other GC games than what I and Gamespot have to say?  Post your reader reviews here for other Gamespot users to see!  Games are listed in alphabetical order.  If you'd like to have your reviews posted here, PM them to me or post the links in this thread.  I have the right to not post some reviews if I think not enough effort was put in to them.  Enjoy!

IT LIVES!!! :o

Great job, GGG, really!  This is awesome, I love the changes!  It sure gives the other console's recommendation threads a kick in the derriere!  ;)

I love the changes, again, better than ever.  The only issues I noticed, because you asked, were extremely minor.  In the second paragraph you say never by a game where buy is misspelled.  Also, in the same paragraph the formatting screwed up and on one line there's only one word, then it skips to the next.  No biggy at all ^_^

My reviews:

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes - http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/metalgearworkingtitle/reader_review.html?id=180946

Soul Calibur II - http://www.gamespot.com/gamecube/action/soulcalibur2/reader_review.html?id=196533

And I plan on writing a mini-review for Baten Kaitos if you don't mind - unless you don't want it on for some reason.  I feel like I've asked this question before... have I? :P

And congrats on the test!  Wowzers!  :D

WOW :o:o IT'S AWESOME:D, honestly GGG , this is the BEST recommendation thread i've seen :D

but i have one suggestion, i've noticed that you put FE on the stratagy section, i really think it should go to the RPG section, also , i think Baten Kaitos should go on that list aswell

other than that........AWESOME THREAD :D

Schadenfreude - I fixed the errors you mentioned and posted your reviews.  :)  Also, go ahead and do something for Baten Kaitos if you'd like, I was surprised that it wasn't on the list when I typed up the RPG section the other day.  :P

Nintendo4life - I don't care what Gamespot or anyone else says, Fire Emblem is strategy.  :P

"Did it hurt?  When they cut off your wings?"
"No, of course not, this is the modern age.  They could cut away your very life and you wouldn't feel a thing."
-Tad Williams, The War of the Flowers

godsgroovygamer

I wasnt really in on the last recommendation thread, but I think this one looks pretty nice.  So if we wish to add a game to the list, do we write the description ourself?

On a side note, after I read Otherland, I rather liked Tad Williams.  Is The War of the Flowers any good?

EDIT:  I see someone else was thinking of Baten Kaitos as well; that was what my question was about.

About Tales of Symphonia...

How is the voice acting in this game? I was just wondering, since I've heard some complaints about it...

To answer your question about Tales of Symphonia, the voice acting is okay.  Actually, the acting is generally pretty good but it's just the voices that get grating after a while.  But it's nothing that should even come close to keeping you from playing the game, and anyone that says otherwise is likely just picking out little faults and expanding them to the nth degree.

GGG, did you get my PM with the mini-review of Baten Kaitos?

Just put it this way. The voice acting will not make you put the volume down or turn off the voice overs.

Well I dont know if I can talk about Warp Pipe over here >.>

But I know that you can play Phantasy Star Online Ep I&II but you have to pay Sega a monthly fee, since it's MMO.

I got another suggestion for racing. It may be old, but it is the greatest pickup and play game I have got. Burnout. Its awesome, i have spent so much time on this game. Dunno what rating its got, but it is definately worth whatever it costs (probably $10.00 tops).

IN THE TRASH! WHERE IT BELONGS! Nah, I'm just kidding. While Super Mario Sunshine is a somewhat great game, but I just don't think it appeals enough to everyone, nor is it just plain good enough to be on such a list IMO, though it is better than a couple of games that she DID list. But I'll let her speak for herself, I'll just say that SMS doesn't really belong there.

Then please, write a mini-review justifying this. Originally this stemmed from her reccomendations, and has grown because other people have made cases as to why the games should be part of the list.

Yeah, in my opinion it just doesn't deserve to be on the list.  It's a good game, but there are much better platformers out there... mostly on the PS2, unfortunatley for GC owners... but the point is that SMS could have been a lot better, and the game has some big problems.

I'd love to expand the sports section, but I've got to have help there because I know nothing about sports... I don't play them or watch them (I watched five minutes of the superbowl, tops ;)).  Write a mini-review, like Mailer said.  The same goes for the Burnout guy.

I want Pheonix Wright!

I've added the new reviews.  :)
