This is why I worry about the stick on the 3ds. Dpads hold up better than sticks. My n64 sticks are pretty wobbly. Also had my dslite hinge crack (took good care of it too). Systems are not made as durable anymore for sure.

I have owned game systems all the way back to the Atari 2600 (still have it and it works like new). The first console I ever had break was a playstation. I had to flip it upside down to work for about 6 months, then it died completely. The next game system to die was the playstation 1 replacement. And you can guess, the third game system to die was the ps2! Keep in mind I still have working nes, snes, atari 2600, gamecube, n64, gameboy color, gameboy advance sp.

Anyone know how durable an ipod touch is? Other than the glass screen, they seem pretty indestructible from what I have read.

Gamecube:

Rogue Leader, Rebel Strike, Timeslitters 2, Timesplitters:Future Perfect, and Wind Waker. Dont crucify me, but I don't like any of the Smash Bros games.

PSone: Command and Conquer Red Alert and Retalliation, Final Fantasy 7 and 9. Most ps1 games are not near as good as we remember them when we go to play them now, unfortunately they have not stood the test of time!

My mother is looking to buy an HDTV and something to use for netflix (she is tired of paying $70 for cable). I have recommended a bluray player because she has many dvds that would look nice on the new tv upscaled. But others have recommended either the Roku box or Apple Tv. She doesn't play video games, so an xbox, wii, ps3 is out. And she will be running a cable from the modem directly to the device (her connection is only 1.0, so wireless would be questionable).

Taking into account that she is over 65 and not all that tech savvy, which would you guys or girls recommend? We use a Wii for netflix and you can search for movies right on it. Not sure if Roku, bluray player, or apple tv allow you to do that. Thanks in advance.

My son may not agree with that statement, as he is only allowed to play video games Friday-Sunday.

Awesome. I was looking into getting either a psp or a 3ds for my son to play (he is bored of the ds) and would like to be able to play him at mario kart with the ds lite. I would think the stick would be great for games like mario 64 as well. I didn't realize you could use it with the ds games. Can you use the d pad with most 3ds games?

Has anyone tried using their 3ds to play mario kart wirelessly? Wondering if you can use the control stick on it and if you can connect wirelessly to dslite with a 3ds to play together?

Just wondering, because I have my doubts whether the stick will hold up to the abuse over time.

You guys have been much help. Lots to think about. i took him to Toys R Us last night to look at games. He found several PSP games he liked, but also some 3ds ones he liked as well. May wait until E3 and see what is shown. If there are no "must have" games for him on the 3ds, I will get him the PSP. I think the catalog of old PS one games will definitely keep him occupied. I think the ps1 had the most diverse selection of games of any system ever (even now). Thanks everyone.
