Being mostly a PC gamer, I was quite blown away when Operation Flashpoint came out in 2001. My little brain just melted.

Crysis was also pretty landmark IMO, I remember how it felt like you had a BC and AC period, a.k.a. Before Crysis and After Crysis. The visuals were just top notch, especially considering the complete lack of any post-processing wizardry like filters, or a weird color palette. And coupled with the physics engine and the awesome effects.

Oh and Company of Heroes in 2006, that blew my mind as well. All the destruction, the detail on the individual soldiers, the amazing animations etc.

@GazaAli: It won't happen (fortunately). The President in the end, is elected by the electoral voters, not by majority population votes. Electoral voters are more informed and more "rational" than the uneducated mass.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the workings of the American voting system, but electoral vote may prove to be in favor of Trump more than popular vote is. Say whatever you want about the American citizenry, but there's no way Trump can win popular vote, which means the electoral vote may prove favorable to him no matter how unfavorable his chances might be. Another thing is that the electoral voting system seems more prone to manipulation and "rigging", which is probably why the U.S refuses to adopt a popular voting system.

Yeah, how so?

Well gerrymandering for one. Though I doubt that's a massive problem.

The Electoral College is to elect the president and vice-president, gerrymandering is done for Congressional districts.

So I ask again, how so?

I didn't say that it's more prone, I just remembered gerrymandering being a problem. Though I'm not an American so I really don't know much about your system.

In any case that guy didn't really have the right to speak, so I think it's pretty fair he got thrown out.

@chaplainDMK: That's a whole lot of words you used just to express that you realized you don't know what you're talking about. ;)

The meltdowns that result from being on the short end of Facts vs Opinions are hilarious.

Delicious tears of butthurt

So I guess we wont be playing cheap LoL rip offs on mobile phones then?

So sad :(

At least you'll always have your Angry Birds/Flappy Birds/Clash of Clans

I'll just leave you two alone for now, seems you have such a nice private little forum here, for all the people that care about mobile gaming.

@chaplainDMK: Your holy grail argument that mobile gaming is not gaming is Clash of Clans? You single out one mediocre game as your blanket statement. That's the equivalent of me saying PC gaming is trash because of games like Minesweeper.

I would love to play an LoL, Smash Bros, SC2, SF4, DoTa 2 or any competitive game for a $1000 match to show you that your elitist attitude has no bearing on your actual capability to be good at games and appreciate games of all sorts. The only thing worse than a pretentious gamer is an ignorant one.

You've never owned any of the pst handheld systems so you directly admit to have never enjoyed the great titles that have existed in Mobile nor having any experience with it, which is now an industry that Apple spearheads. Pretty much just showed us you have no meaningful input to contribute other than half-baked ignorance based on your lack of experience. Way to be discreet about your limited perspectives.

Don't really give half a shit about your little fit, I just find your posts hilarious.

Plus why don't we play one of your cheap mobile gaming rip-off LoLs rather? I mean it's basically like console quality already.

And lol at that Minesweeper jab.

Take a guess at what drives any industry these days... Go on, I'll give you some time.

The sun?

@chaplainDMK: If you've never owned a gameboy, gamegear or PSP, then you are "lol" for being a "n00b-gamer"

No never owned one. Guess I'm a "noob gamer". Now if you'll excuse me, I'll go play Victoria II or something, something simple, for us "noob gamers". Clash of Clans seems too hard for me to be honest.

Did anybody actually read it? Direct quote inbound-

"Apple's gaming revenues alone, for example, are predicted to total somewhere in the region of $4 billion for 2014 - somewhere around double that forecast for Nintendo."

The article puts Google's revenue around 3 billion. That means android does not have a bigger gaming base than Apple in the metric that actually matters.

Every time someone says, "Mobile gaming, lol," I just feel embarrassed for them.

Mobile gaming is lol lol

Clash of Clans wooo, better payup so you can get that tower quicker.

Mobile gaming is mostly a joke, the only really good ones are the really obscure indie stuff or just regular PC/console ports. The entire scene is just a sad affair, like, seeing the Clash of Kings or Clans or whatever have adds with Age of Empires, Total War etc. pictures in them. Just reading the store descriptions and the pictures alone usually turns me off from even downloading them.

What I'm most sad about is that it had, and probably still has, potential. But right now it's in a massive gutter. Too many games are simple 3rd rate rip-offs of anything that is currently popular on PC/console, while alot of the rest are stupid clicker paywall BS. The biggest problem is that people for some reason don't like paying 10-20$ upfront for a game, yet always loose themselves in paywall schemes. If you look at the games that cost 10ish$, they are good, decent hardcore PC ports. But there's also the problem that any native "hardcore" development is really limited, with "native" mobile games being mostly really casual and simple, while the "hardcore" games being ports and clones of console/PC games.

For now mobile gaming is shit and a joke. But download TheoTown, it's ace. Cool Sim City 2000 clone, free, and made by one guy. No paywall crap or whatever, just download it so he gets more exposure.

What do you guys think is the most imitated movie? I think it has to be the original The Matrix movie. That bullet dodging scene was copied in hundreds of movies. Along with other scenes, it is the most imitated movie IMO.

You OT?

Alien and Aliens, a load of elements from both movies basically became staples of Sci-Fi and even horror.
