First of all the game hasn't even come out yet so most people have no basis for disagreeing with the score as they haven't even had a chance to play it yet.

So if they improved on the game it would be higher, lost ground = lower. jayfi33
It's not quite that straightforward. You also need to take into account the fact that standards are constantly rising and that it's been a few years now since Halo 2 was released, for instance.
I'm not sure where people get the idea that all games start out with 10.0 and then deductions are made from there, rather than the score simply being a generalexpression of the game's overall quality.
