@88Metallica Games don't start at a 10 and only have points "docked." Games earn their scores, and 8 is a great score. And I love Ellie too! She's fantastic.
@Ph00p Those things you cite perhaps make the game a better fit on the 3DS, but they aren't actually bad. I think this game is good. It's not ZOMG AMAZING, but there's nothing about it that actually stands out as bad. Games don't start at a 10 and only lose points for flaws. This is a totally solid puzzle game, a pleasant, enjoyable, absorbing diversion. That's what it is, that's all it is, and there's nothing wrong with that.
@demondogx There are fail states, you can be caught by the monster, but it is not hard to hide under a piece of furniture or something to avoid the monster. But if you come to this game looking for a challenge, you will be disappointed. It is much more about atmosphere, about being in the world it creates, than it is about avoiding any kind of danger.
@geez83 @carolynmichelle My problem with it isn't that it was or wasn't predictable. It's easy to tack on a surprising ending to a story, but that's not enough to make an ending good. The game doesn't build up to the ending properly to give it the emotional weight that it deserves.
@geez83 That has nothing to do with anything here. If you think I only want women to be portrayed as perfect, you don't understand my "approach on gender issues" at all. I want all sorts of people to be portrayed as strong, weak, flawed, struggling, brave, scared, vulnerable, capable, damaged, smart, cautious, reckless, complicated--in other words, as human beings.
