I hope Nintendo goes all out for this next console. And there's little reason to think they shouldn't. Hardware costs have come down dramatically since 05-06 when Sony and MS released their HD consoles. Nintendo can easily make a console that is more powerful than 360 and PS3 and keep costs low... my guess is they probably wouldn't even mind taking a loss on each console sold (after all they can easily afford to with the commercial success of the Wii), if that means recapturing the core gamers and continuing to entice casuals to buy their new system.

As for MS/Sony, well they can continue their 10 year plan. MS beat Sony this gen largely because they released their console a year ahead of Sony. I think if nintendo releases this console a couple years ahead of MS/Sony, they are in a great position to move in for the kill.

I'm mostly playing PC now... because of SC2. Haven't touched my box for PS3 for a while...

Not excited at all. Gears 1 was great, Gears 2 was blah, and 3, I'll probably pick it up when it goes on sale for 20 bucks at BB but then again I may not.

Overall, I'm sick of FPS and 3PS. These games can't hold my attention for more than a few days. I've realized that downloading demos are adequate to get my FPS fix.

Main game I'm playing now is SC2, LBP2, GT5, and YDKJ. Only games on the horizon worth getting for me are UC3 and LA Noire. Passed on KZ3 and probably will pass on Gears 3

Why would people pirate this game? I bought this game for the multiplayer. THe campaign was cool, but once it's over, it's boring.

I get your point, but I think it's also a rip off in that if you want to buy an item that is only 200 points and have 0 points, you have to buy 400 points or whatever the lowest denominator is. Then you're left with 200 points. Essentially you've given MS 200 points and not received anything in return at the current time. Thus you have money sitting there that MS is making interest off of (even 200 points compounded by however many people have extra unused points adds up to a lot of interest). Remember money today is worth more money in the future. Basic economics. So even if you end up spending thepoints 3 months down the road, that's extra interest that MS has earned off of your hard earned dollars. This is also why gift cards are a ripoff. You give the store money in advance for essentially nothing... The store can earn interest off of your money.. and many times, people forget about using the gift cards, then the store just gets all your money for nothing.

Honestly at this point I don't see it happening. The Move and Kinect just came out and it'll take 2 years just to tap into all that. The Move games currently are basic (albeit high-def and sexy) but once they seep into the bigger titles (*cough Killzone cough*) the hardware technology will finally start to peak. And no, something isn't a "tacked-on afterthought" if it's motion designed from the ground up.

I agree. The thing is GT5 JUST came out for the PS3. Also the next installment of GTA hasn't even been announced, and I'm willing to bet they're going to make more than one GTA game for this gen. The problem is games take so long to develop now for these consoles. It's not like back in the SNES/PS1/PS2 days where it takes no time to make a 2D side-scroller. Also, the PS3 just got a firmware update to make it 3D compatible... Whereas with the PS2 and previous consoles, we could see new consoles on the horizon at about the 4-5 year mark, I honestly can't see it with the PS3 and 360. The Wii? Maybe. But definitely not with the PS3 and 360.

[QUOTE="Skittles_McGee"] Which brings us back to " if none of those points are "OnLive is gettings tons of subscribers and a lot of marketshare", then they don't actually matter." Because thats how business works. Unless you're successful, you're not sticking around. No matter how "amazing" or "creative" your idea may be.Rikusaki
Read my fourth point. Every other medium is being consumed by the cloud and OnLive demostrates unequivolcally that the technology works for gaming.

But let's look at movies--people use netflix and other cloud technology because they want to rent the movie. If people want the actual movie, they still buy the DVD or bluray--heck I just bought Back to the Future on bluray.

With music, people don't buy CDs anymore because they are overpriced and because they don't want to be forced to pay 20 bucks for a CD when there are only a couple songs they like on it.

OnLive will work only for renting games, kind of like a Netflix of gaming. My ISP in Canada caps the amount of usage at 60GB... the best plans only offer 80GB or so. I can't imagine I would want to waste that bandwidth to play a game that I could play on a disk.

Strong yen is a contributing factor of course.

Poor DS sales can be blamed on the upcoming 3DS.

Poor Wii sales can be blamed on market saturation. Wii owners are very unlikely to own more than one Wii whereas 360 and PS3 owners are more likely to buy more than one 360 or PS3.

Don't know why this was hyped so much. Fable 2, IMO was overrated and a very mediocre RPG. Combat was lame, story was lame, quests were lame. Will not be getting this game. Too many games to play right now.
