OK, so the more I peruse the forums here and the blog comments on articles, the more Wii bashing comments I find. Yes, I get it, the Wii doesn't have a lot of games that appeal to core gamers. Is it jealousy on the part of core gamers that's driving the hate? If you don't have a Wii, good for you. Go play your 360/PS3 and enjoy.
I for one have all three systems and both portables. I've also gamed since the days of the NES and Japanese Famicom. I've been through a lot of systems. Although the Wii has its limitations, it still doesn't deserve the bashing from "core gamers." It is clearly geared toward the younger crowd and the casual crowd, something the PS3 and 360 do not cater to. My girlfriend can't stand some of the games I play (COD, Gears, GTA) saying they are too violent and complicated for her. So she enjoys the simple games of Wii Fit, Wii sports, World of Goo and the like. So is there anything wrong with that? I play Wii Fit and Wii Sports and other Wii titles like Mario Kart with her. It's a chance for us to do something we both like. So why do people have a problem with that?
I get it. The Wii doesn't have the horsepower as a 360 or PS3. But there are times when even I don't feel like playing Gears or COD and would rather chill out with a game of World of Goo or Mario Kart. It's still a good system and I do get a lot of use out of it. So enough with the Wii bashing. It's gettin real old.
