About online, I don't think a competitive online multiplayer for a simple hack and slash game will work very well. What are you going to do? See who can mash buttons the fastest? :)

I personally think they don't need online. But, if you guys insist, it should be 2-4 player coop.

Sadly, GoW III is just GoW HD.

Nothing is fresh. The gameplay hasn't evolved.

How would you change the gameplay in the third and final game in a trilogy in a way that doesn't upset the fans and mess up the identity of the game? Please be detailed in your explanation, and lay out exactly what Sony should have done, and what you would have liked to see. Because I'm positive you can't come up with anything.

Sure you can. You can still change things up without messing up the identity of the series. Uncharted 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 are great examples. They significantly improved on every aspect of their game without compromising the games' original identity.

What would I like to see?

- More weapons. After 3 God of War games, surely they can come up with more unique interesting weapons. Reusing old weapons is fine, but give us more choices please. I'm bored with the same old weapons.

- Make the game less linear. Create branching paths and multiple strategies to reach the end/goal...each path has their own pros/cons and challenges. Right now, there is only 1 way to go from point A to point B.

Stuff like that...I want them to ADVANCE the series and not be satisfied with giving us more of the same thing.

Nay. My first and only experience with God of War was Chains of Olympus. It was a disappointment to say the least. It's nothing but a linear, mindless hack and slash. I was expecting a lot more given the amount of praise the series have gotten.

God of War 3 looks exactly the same gameplay-wise. A huge turn-off. So, I cannot say I'm interested at all.

Sounds like they're going for realism again instead of cel-shaded.

Bold move. I would love that.

I want them to really push the Wii to its limit graphically and set the standard for other Wii games to come.

This should make up for giving us GC quality graphics for Twilight Princess.

No. make original wii games based off lower budgets

Like De Blob, Boom Blox. Make a title that at best will be expected to move maybe 500k units and don't exceed costs of that much

The people making Muramasa should know very well their title is niche, if they weren't prepared to sell 40k-100k then they are doing it wrong

Good games don't sell coz their good, if these companies put out bad marketing, thats their fault

for christ sake, its their fault, they need to balance their budgets better, don't make a game you know won't sell well enough to return a profit on

If Conduit sells 250k at $50 then it got $12.5 million from consumers

If HVS and SEGA did their job right, then their budget hopefully didn't exceed 12.5 million all costs included

I'm sure they thought they'd get the 1.3million that bought COD on Wii, but they must realise they are pushing a new IP.

darth-pyschosis

Right, you're indirectly making my point.

Because the demand isn't there, Wii developers are forced to work with a lower budget in order to turn in a profit.

Lower budget means you cannot compete with the Biowares, Rockstars, Bethesdas, Valves, and Ubisofts of the world. The best you can hope for is a AA game.

After NMH2 and Red Steel 2, AAA third party game will be an endangered species.

It's not their loss, if they made these games they'd take a loss

You say that Modern Warfare on the Wii has sold 200,000 copies in the first 3 week
The game elsewhere 1,500,000 the first week. That's means that just one day elsewhere outsold the Wii's version for three weeks

Now tell me why would anyone go to their boss and say "I have an idea, let's make a game that will sell less copies then anything else we can do instead"?

:

:

A game from the ground up has the same problems, do you want to sell one on the Wii where it may sell well or do you want to make it elsewhere where it will sell well?

thedude-

Sad, sad words but very true.

Honestly after NMH2 and Red Steel 2, I don't expect to see any more AAA quality third party games coming to the Wii. The market simply isn't there to warrant a AAA budget and effort on the Wii.

Are you reading this whole thread or just certain posts? Because you can clearly see why the Wii version would sell significantly less.

Why? What's the reason now? Because it was not promoted or marketed well? Because it was a 2 year old port? There are always reasons.

Dead Space Extraction? It's an on-rail shooter! We want full control over our character.

MW Reflex? Yeah, but it is a port! We want something designed from the ground up especially for the Wii.

Madworld? Too short and repetitive. The Conduit? Too generic. Muramasa? ... NFS Nitro? Too fast? Silent Hill? Too scary?

Reasons are just excuses. The fact remains that third party Wii games aimed for gamers don't sell well. So, if you're a third party developer, what would you do? Continue to throw your money away?

New disc purchases only. No used games.

I had to dig deep for my list sorry to say...

1. Boom Blox Bash Party

2. House of the Dead Overkill

3. Rock Band 2

4. Okami

5. Bully

What's yours?

I haven't played any Silent Hill games, so please forgive my ignorance. But, I just have to ask. What is it about this game makes it GOOD? I've seen a number of SH:SM videos and I'm just not seeing what all the excitement is about.

Majority of what I've seen are just cutscenes. The few actual gameplay footage looks dull. It doesn't seem like there a lot of stuff happening. You're just walking around an empty environment by yourself. Looking at or picking up items here and there. Enemies are rare or non-existent. So, what do you do in the game exactly? Do you solve environmental puzzles? Is it an adventure game of some sort? What is its main gameplay element?

What am I missing here?
