Random encounters in Oblivion are always interesting.
Half-Life 2: Episodes 1 and 2 where quite excellent, especially the "cutscenes". Portal made laugh and "wow" a few times.
Halo 3, seeing a Scarab for the first time is epic, encountering two is indescribable. Battling them loses it luster after a few times.
BioShock, first time I played I had to rush it and stoped halfway (borrowed), so I had a poor impression of it. Time has to be taken; the details are captivating and the Irony Achievement...oh you.
My rival's car being sabotaged in Midnight Club was pretty neat, regardless of it being scripted.
Mirror's Edge is great once there's a flow, any break in this flow turns me into an angry-swearing chauvist that foams at the mouth.
Fable 2's world is pleasing to the eyes, I never bore at watching light scater. The childhood moments are really, really beautiful.
Right now I'm playing Far Cry 2, and I'm blown away. It does have nuisances that make the game unnecessarily difficult, but setting up for encounters and trying to follow through is great fun.
During the first five minutes of gameplay I thought it was greatest game ever. After five hours, I thought "Wow, I should go to bed; it's five in the morning!". When I had five "friends" calling me I was overwhelmed with friendship dilemmas (good thing), but the manner of pleasing them started displeasing and boring me. Once I had friend after friend calling me to do something, I felt like killing them in order to have less calls...which doesn't work. Then I realized that the missions I was assigned did not advance the plot at all (terrible, terrible thing).
I've since stopped playing, I was sick of the characters saying (paraphrase) - "Do these five missions, and I'll tease you about plot advancement." All of this and the added praise it, especially the plot, was given infuriates me.
