Isn't this cute? Microsoft tries to toss the blame to the publishers and now, the publishers don't know what to do with it. It's like a game of hot potato. Well, let me make this easier for you, greedy companies that try to milk my money.
I've now turned to digital games, as you wanted. The end result is that since I can't re-sell my games, I'm very cautious about buying a game. I buy fewer games than before and I no longer buy games at full price; I wait until they're well below $20. The end result is that I spend MUCH less money on new games.
The blocking of used games isn't the only culprit. Companies trying to scam me with fake DLC, terrible DRM, and online single player requirement also pushed me away from buying some games altogether. You may believe 100% that your decision is the right decision and my opinion is wrong. Unfortunately, my money doesn't care what you think.
Oh, another "expert" opinion that the Vita is doomed. Anyways~
I would love a price drop and a new lighter model with a removable battery. Minor bump in specs wouldn't hurt either, especially improved battery capacity. While the analog sticks aren't bad, I wish they would implement something like the 3DS' analog stick. Although I only tried it briefly, it felt more comfortable than the PSV's. Internal memory wouldn't hurt either.
Oh, and price drop the system and the memory cards.
Quality of games and user income may have something to do with it.
Compare the triple A titles we get in the US that focus on fun and epic experience. Add to the fact that US gamers can afford shorter and better designed games. Now, compare the mundane design of many MMO's where their focus is on dragging the game out for a lengthy period at the expense of fun. The only saving grace is that you get a lot of hours for your money.
Considering that China doesn't have our selection or the income to match the hobby, it's no wonder that poor MMO's do well over there and not here in the US.
Companies' greed on used game sales actually decreases money that I spend on games.
Back then, I had no second thoughts about buying a new game that got good reviews since I could always sell them back. This meant that if I didn't like the game, I only spent about $5~$15 to try it out.
These days, with all these crap, I just gave up on physical media and resorted to digital. Since I am unable to sell my games, I'm reluctant to buy them. I don't buy as many games now and when I do, it's basically only when there's a huge sale below $20. So instead of buying 10 physical games for $60 each, I'm now buying 2~4 digital games for less than $20 each.
I'm sure companies can figure out that this doesn't exactly lead to more profit from gamers like me.
