[QUOTE="bbbourb"]Of course they're taking Weir out of the show just when I started to like her character a bit more.

Does this seem like Sci-Fi is surreptitiously trying to strangle the franchise into oblivion? First, they cancel SG-1, despite the consistently strong ratings. Next, the cast members of Atlantis are leaving in droves. Are they reshuffling their assets for the third establishment in the franchise or just trying to run the show on the cheap? I'm really starting to get concerned about the future of Stargate.

The SciFi channel has no say as to what charcters are on it.

The same way they had no say whether SG-1 showed up on a different network?  Sorry, shock, but the guys who write the paychecks have a say, and it's not always as direct as "You can't have Character X anymore".  More like "Ok, here's your new budget and  you can afford Amanda Tapping OR Tori Higginson, not both".  So, they don't have creative input, but yeah, I'm betting they do have a say in the matter.

The Amanda Tapping article on Gateworld certainly shed some light on this situation, too, and I'll bet money was a prime factor in the decision to "marginalize" Higginson's character.

Yay, I can go with this! Now if Daniel will just come over it'll be great!

Question though: Will the first movie be taking place during the Season 4 events or before...what I'm getting at is are they going to have to contrive some way for Carter to show up in the movie if she's supposed to be on Atlantis? They had to do that on Star Trek Deep Space Nine when they had to get Worf from DS9 to the Enterprise for the movies, they were always talking about how they had to ferry Worf back to DS9. Contrived, and shamelessly cheesy. I hope they don't have to do that with Carter.

Bring back Jonas Quinn!!!

[QUOTE="shockwave04"]Just Sam. If they brought in a alternet reality carter that would feel stupid.Sarge_Maximus2

I agree. Eventhough Atlantis is stupid anyhow and they'll probably do one of the dumb things mentioned above, I would hope they can turn the show around and actually do some justice to the name.

And some things never change...

Anyway, I think it would be best if Sam remained as she is.  Anything else would seem a bit forced and contrived.

BTW, did I miss something and Sam get promoted to full bird or is she still a Lieutenant Colonel and the ell-tee is getting left off her rank?  No big deal because Lt. Colonel is only used on official paper correspondence or during ceremonies, but I wasn't sure if I missed her latest promotion or not.

[QUOTE="shockwave04"]I still think it will be based on earth. And here is why. They still have all the sets form SG-1. Why spend the money to build more or different ones. And I agree that it shouldn't be SG- blank. I think they should call it StaGate command, and have it based around the base personnell, and the people in the earth deffence ships.afoligno72

Maybe they will have it be about a race other than humans on earth?....

Yeah, the Ori.  Personally, I'd like to see Earth fall to the Ori.  That would at least give a good base for the epic struggle to be depicted in the two movies.

[QUOTE="bbbourb"][QUOTE="KnightsofRound"]I guess I shouldn't complain that we don't get the episodes as early as you guys do during the summer in Canada because you guys have to wait 7 months after the first 10 episodes. Pretty lame if you ask me.xaos

I wonder if the cancellation doesn't have something to do with this. Since the show was cancelled "mid-season", they had to re-write some of the last episodes of the season to wrap up the plot a bit better and lay the groundwork for the movies instead of a new season.

I was also rather irritated to see the delay in getting the new episodes on the air. I wonder how Robert Cooper and his group is feeling right about now. I would imagine they aren't very happy with Sci-Fi at the moment.

Well, they finished filming in early October... :)

Hey!  Don't confuse the issue with facts!  You'll make the Republicans angry!!

I'd like a 'Stargate Stories' type thing. Where each episode will introduce new characters, on a new world, new story arch each week, just to expand the universe. And of course they could go back to each of the characters, or the most liked ones, and continue their stories and such. So in a sense, it'd be a whole lot of short stories from throughout the Stargate Universe. I guess they'd need a lot of actors for that though, but it's just something I've always wanted to see.
DoHo

See, I like this idea too.  Either that or focus on a world other than Earth, like following yet another Tollan settlement, or perhaps a Stargate Command led by (da da DAH!) Jonas Quinn from his home planet of Kelowna.  By doing this you take a known quantity (i.e. familiar character and/or setting) and expound on the storyline and introduce some completely new arcs.  The one thing I absolutely, positively do NOT want to see is a ship-based show a-la Star Trek.  That would be too much.

[QUOTE="bbbourb"][QUOTE="xaos"]I hope it has a radically different feel from either existing series, maybe placed after disclosure of the Stargate program; I'm sure that would completely restructure the SGC, after all.Kurushio

Preliminary reports have the plot revolving around the aliens from Spirits as they follow their Native American friends, protecting them from the dangers of the galaxy through Stargate travel.  Tonane makes his return as the naive-yet-wise "ambassador" for the Salish people and Xe'ls continues to follow as Tonane's faithful companion and protector.  No word yet as to whether any guest-appearances by the current SG-1 cast will be forthcoming.  Preliminary series title is Stargate:  The Spirit Walk.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA lol.  Hey shock, it's your dream come ture!!!!
