As some of you know, I am now the Assistant Manager at my local Gamestop. Sometimes, thanks to my position and the fortune of working at the right time, I fall into some really great deals. Yesterday was one of those "right times." A guy came in with four seasons of Stargate SG-1, seasons 1, 3, 4 and 7 to trade in for cash. We sell these for $19.99 each. Well, I also get 25% off thanks to my Edge Card (10% discount card given with a 1-year subscription to Game Informer magazine) and my employee discount. Also, we have a buy 2 get 1 free special on used DVDs. All told, I picked up all four of these seasons for $55! After consulting with my wife (I was playing it very safe) I was able to take them home. You just can't beat a deal like that.

Well, this was a really good episode until the end. I thought the whole plot to capture Adria was very, very well done, and the return of Baal was a very nice twist. I found myself feeling really bad for Vala at the beginning because she found herself out of friends and stuck with Adria, but I thought it had to be a trick of some kind. As for what I didn't like, well it's simple. I didn't like Adria ascending, not one bit. We still don't know if the Ori are dead and the information from Baaldria wasn't trustworthy, period. Also, since they can't (or aren't supposed to be able to) affect anything in our galaxy without risking the involvement of the Ancients, it stands to reason that Adria became an Ancient just as Daniel did. I thought this put a lie to the thought ascension was a "spiritual" act but I suppose after the episode with McKay there's a bit of a precedent. McKay came close to ascension by both evolving and coming to grips with his death, but he also used his new abilities to do good for others. Adria just...did it. I really, really didn't like how that came about. I would have preferred her to die and then return to life thanks to the actions of a Prior or something. Perhaps the Ancients will kick her out of their club as they did with Daniel and she'll have all the power of the Ori but no memory. That might be ok, but still...I don't know. I just didn't like having her ascend. It didn't seem right.

So the Sci-Fi channel, in its infinite wisdom, thought cancelling Stargate SG-1 would be good for the ratings on Battlestar Galactica. Now, however, it seems that the station's way of thinking has failed.  According to an article on ign.com, Battlestar Galactica will have its final season in 2008.  Essentially, this means BSG lasted exacty one season beyond SG-1.  Thanks, Sci-Fi, for squashing one of my favorite shows for the failure that is BSG.  I wonder what this may mean for Atlantis.

Bra'tac was also like 130yrs old and maybe underestimated jack a little or was testing him a bit.Kurushio

This is what I thought during that confrontation. Bra'tac was taking the Measure of the Man, and if he didn't like what he saw or heard, I'm sure he would have snapped Jack in half. As for this episode, yeah, Cam was being totally stupid in how he handled Teal'c, but I can't tell if it was really out of Teh Dumbness or if he really thought Teal'c would back down. I didn't like the scene at the end with Bra'tac and Teal'c, though. I thought the "I'm so proud you turned your back on your friends and almost got yourself killed in the name of revenge" thing was a little too much. If they're going to do the "Angry Teal'c" thing, they should stick with it.

Re: Meridian-I forgot when posting those lines from the end the one I thought was probably the best in the whole end sequence, when Jacob is trying to heal Daniel, and Jack says:

"Jacob."

"Jack?"

"Stop."

"What??"

"Let him go."

Jacob looks around the room: "Somebody else want to tell me what to do here??"

"It's what he wants."

I think that's how the whole sequence basically went, and the caring shown by Jacob/Selmak toward Daniel was an awesome moment. Meek-you teared up reading it, and I teared up typing it. It's all good.

[QUOTE="mgmeek"]

[QUOTE="Arcanine_88"]third is "Meridian", starts where Daniel starts to talk to Jack in "mind mode" and goes to the endArcanine_88

is that the one where daniel tells jack to let him die after being exposed to radiation on Jonas' planet?? if so, that part really got me. jack tells the doc to let him go, and every's like WTF are you crazy?? and jack says thats what he wants. *tear*

Yea that's the part I was talking about.
Even after seeing the episode countless times I still get chills down my neck everything I see Daniel going flat line and Fraiser saying "Colonel".

Jack:  "Stop."

*Daniel flatlines*

Janet:  "Colonel?!?"

Jack:  "It's what he wants."

Powerful stuff.   Sunday was every bit as good.  I thought the scene with Rodney and Ronon was almost as good as the one

with Rodney and Carson.  Who'd have thought Ronon and Rodney would become close like that?

It looked more like muay tai boxing or however you spell it.  They both were throwing alot of elbows which i could understand from cam but ive never seen too much of that style from teal'c.Kurushio

Muay Thai, yes.  It was completely different from the fighting style he learned from the Sodan Warriors, and I woudl have thought that

Cam would have had better luck against Teal'c based on that experience.  Of course, you know Teal'c and Jack wouldn't have come

to blows over this, he would have told Jack what he was going to do and Jack would have sighed and let him go.

Blah.  I didn't really like this one.  Teal'c went rogue and did some usual awesome butt-kicking, but the fight with Arkad was too much like his fight with Kytano (sans the Matrix-like camera shifts of course) where Teal'c gets the crap beat out of him and then manages to somehow find the strength to get up and kill his antagonist.  I wanted to see Teal'c completely snap and then kick arse from start to finish, and that didn't happen.  I also didn't like how he beat the snot out of Cam.  I would have preferred it if Cam either backed down or Teal'c gave him a Vulcan neck-pinch or something...I dunno.  Just didn't care for this episode for some reason.

One other thing:  When Carson asked Radek if he wanted to go fishing, Radek said he was winning things from other players and he mentions a "anime DVD set from Dr. Mallozzi."  Neat little Easter Egg.

I will admit right up front that this episode brought me to tears.  Hell, it's been over for fifteen minutes and I'm still feeling a bit emotional...

*ahem* Anyway...This was a fantastic episode.  The construction was perfect from start to finish, and the flashbacks were put in the perfect places.

I was ok until the end, I think.  When Carson appeared and started talking to Rodney I got pretty choked up.

I'm hoping Carson ascended, but I'm not sure...at the end he faded away, he didn't change form and float off like an ancient.

I don't have much more to say about this episode...it was pretty powerful.  I hate that characters have to die.  Especially the good ones.

What the HELL is wrong with the forum posting????  Why won't my text wrap around???
