They certainly weren't perfect, but double agent at least tried something different. Whilst conviction I found to be a good start for the new mechanics as I found the old ones haven't aged particularly well. I do like the faster pace, I just hope they've reintegrated the stealth elements with black list to a decent degree. From what I've seen they seem to of done just that.
Of course they seem to of failed on the story. Why they couldn't just let Fisher rest and create a new protagonist is beyond me. Completely ass backwards imo.
Time will tell though. If we're to go by their recent products it'll be terrible. If that is the case there won't be anything of Ubisofts I ever want again.
Ubisoft are quickly becoming my most detested developer. They've ruined every series except splinter cell, and I'm in a very small minority with that opinion as is.
The series peaked with 2.They should have released Brotherhood as MP DLC and Revelations as SP DLC, giving plenty of time to work on AC3. Instead it's rushed, buggy, poorly written and overall a complete let down.
Adding in gimmicks ( like ACs one game gadgets ) and gameplay mechanics that are interesting in theory but completely half assed is Ubisofts modus operendi now.
I'd be tempted if I knew the game wasn't going to be anything like AC3.
Unfortunately, what with them turning the series into an annual one it simply isn't going to be the case. A year or two simply won't be enough time for them to of done anything substantial, let alone let them release the game to their old standards.
@chrisbingle Kojima has put out a product to be bought by consumers. It is thus anybodies right to criticise it. Who are you to tell me I can't?
Regardless, you bring up plenty of points yourself, but your allowed to criticise because you think his 'pretentious' writing is miles above anything else out there, which just isn't the case. Just because it's long winded and takes up half the damn game doesn't mean it's by any means well written.
Also, WhoTF is this niche crowd? You mean the 5 million people who bought the game? Some niche.
The point is this is a marketing attempt designed to appease school kids. The hype train starts here.
This is just pandering to fanboys. Hideo Kojimas writing is as controversial as sesame street.
To say there isn't 'mature' games out there just goes to show how out of touch he is and what few games he has actually played. Guy needs to get his head out of his arse and work on gameplay, rather than churning out this GCSE level writing in order to appease 12 year olds.
Yet it isn't about the money. He's as deluded as someone who thinks their verbal diarrhea is the one source of controversial writing in the industry.
@SultaN-s You probably won't finish the game then if you manage to get to Conner. Haytham is the best character in the damn game. Such potential wasted.
