Finally got around to playing TLoU. The first Uncharted game was my only ever taste of a Naughty Dog game, and I had to force myself through it from about 40% in. The Last of Us, however, is one of the greatest video games I've ever played. I was absolutely blown away. How this game could score anything below a 9.0, relative to how other games have been scored recently, is beyond me.

I should point out though that I seem to have one of the good copies or something, as the only problem I had in regards to companions was that sometimes, rarely, they would run instead of walk/sneak in times that I wanted to be quiet. This never alerted the enemy however, and they never did this in sight of the enemy either. It was also so rare that it was a non-issue for me. There was literally no other fault I could pin on the game.

Objectively speaking, I cannot understand scoring TLoU anything less than a 9.0. An 8.5 if you're in a sadistic mood perhaps. Anything less and there must be an ulterior motive.

Not sure if TLOU is a game I'd enjoy anyway, but the attention this review is getting, as evident by the traffic you can see by the number of posts here, shows that rating games that are universally acclaimed relatively "poorly" is great for the website. The only thing about this review that even raises an eyebrow is that it's Tom McShea, and that he's rated other universally acclaimed games "poorly" before. Is it a case of him being a great reviewer that plays the game objectively, thus making him seemingly different from 90% of other game critics? Is it a case of other critics being wooed into giving better ratings? Or is it a case of trying to increase traffic with controversial reviews?

Long story short: Is TLOU an AAA title, or have most critics been buying into the hype? Games are expensive these days and I don't want to spend ~$100 AUD if it's the latter, but I also don't want to miss out on a great gaming experience because a critic possibly wanted to make a name for himself. So confused.

It's Assassins Creed. I have every other game in the series so I'd buy this one just to keep the collection going. The fact that it's also one of the best IP's this gen is a bonus.

That's just sad. They shouldn't be saying anything personal regardless of how dumbed-down Biowares products are/have become. Just don't buy Bioware products, no need to harass someone.

@XeonForce Touche. I probably should have done my homework before my original comment.

@Gelugon_baat What's wrong with sheep? They play a big part in the economy and in improving the quality of life of people like you and me with their wool. If you were more appreciative of these amazing creatures you would have seen my immitation as a compliment.

@Gelugon_baat No need to curse. Why do they need to save the skins when "stuff" like this happens? If anything, it should be the Governments from around the world taking the blame. Poor education systems resulting in more stupid people who can't protect their passwords.

Whoa dudes, all this hate.. I love the PS3, don't thumbs-down me bro! @XeonForce - I own and love my PS3. I feel it is a much more core orientated console than the 360 and that Sony is trying the hardest to accomodate core gamers. So no, it isn't ironic. @Gelugon_baat - Wow. Strong words there, pal. Is this Brendan guy a close friend of yours or something, you seem to be jumping at everyone who goes against his opinion that you seem to eat up. Baaaa. Anyway, I didn't/don't expect him to read my comment and it was never intended to insult him, so calm your farm. The last thing I need is the thought that my comments are making some guy tear up and post hot-headed replies on a gaming website. I like your enthusiasm though. Edit: I like how people are calling for a lawsuit against Microsoft. I think Microsoft should be able to sue stupid people for defamation; getting scammed because you can't protect your passwords and accounts and blaming Microsoft isn't the way to go.
