I didnt actually make any mistakes on my newest system, but the first time I tried to replace my video card, I found out that the card was AGP while the slot was PCI. 8)
Several parts of S.T.A.L.K.E.R, where you're underground alone in the dark, when you hear noises all around you, and you realise you're not so alone anymore.
I recently had to destroy (yep - destroy) my compaq presario just to get a hard drive out.
I found out while removing some components of the presario to put into my new rig that several parts are riveted and welded into the case, so I had to go mental with a crowbar destroying the case to open up a side panel so that I could unscrew stuff - just to get to the HDD & CD drive.
I use an external hard drive to store all my steam games, and it runs the same as it would on my main drive. I don't think you'll notice any difference.
