@Mugzippit @TheBlackEclipse Melee did not have a steep learning curve to the casual gamer though. When you look at the game casually, it's almost identical to Brawl in terms of how the game is played. The beauty of Super Smash Bros. Melee was the fact that the game is easy to pick up and play casually, but there was depth that allowed for a strong competitive scene as well. I also must say that while you are right about Wavedashing being an exploit, L - Canceling was not. It was an intended feature that returned from the original smash bros for the N64.
@supershmo @TheBlackEclipse Wavedashing was definitely an exploit. L - Canceling was intended. It was in 64 and was highlighted as a feature on the official japanese website.
I hope I like this one. Brawl was... not a proper sequel to Melee IMO. The gameplay got slower, and the skill required decreased dramatically. Give me advanced techniques again. I'd at least like L - Canceling to return to the series.
This generation is the first one in which I'm not really excited for anything. For some reason it just feels the same as last gen to me. MS and Sony duke it out while Nintendo just does... Nintendo things.
@Sevenizz I'd like to point out that entertainment isn't the only reason people watch this. By watching pros, people are able to quickly learn effective strategies and methods for playing the featured game. Also, it's not strange for people to watch other play games, as I'll point out that mankind has been watching televised sports for decades.
The 16 bit era was truly the golden age of gaming in my opinion. I think that the SNES was the greatest console of all time, especially in the category of RPG's. Glad to see that people still love these consoles.
