@ZIMdoom: I don't think their point was that it'll sell more Xbox consoles, but if it was I don't agree either. I think they were saying if you've already got an Xbox, then cross platform will definitely keep you from buying a PS4 like your friends did, because now there is no need to own a PS4 to play with them. It's very easy for Sony/PlayStation to perceive the ''favor'' they'd be doing Xbox here. I admit that's still a reach, but I'm just guessing here.

If that isn't the issue I imagine the cost to acquire exclusives/studios in a cross-play everything world would skyrocket, because an individual console's install base goes from leverage to almost meaningless to people who make video games. I think everyone would want to go cross-platform in a hurry. Developers (as the biggest AAA ones do) will look at the entire player base across every platform and demand Sony/MS/Ninty make it a lot more worth their while to essentially block themselves from X million or so potential customers. Again, I'm just guessing Sony/PlayStation looks at all the money they spend, their success this gen, and have 0 interest in sharing their customers. It's hard to blame them, it's self preservation.

Red Dead Redemption was phenomenal, Undead Nightmare was amazing, and RDR 2 looks more than ready to continue that trend. I'm so confident this game is going to deliver I'm just going to go ahead and assume this is going to buy them more than enough time (lord knows they've got the cash) to deliver the best GTA they've ever created.

Dave isn't wrong, but going about it in this way isn't doing him, Gunn, or GotG any favors. If he feels so strongly about it he should've tried to organize the cast, so they can put forth some sort of group effort. Simply yelling into the internet you want out of your contract isn't going to end well. It's probably the weakest move he could've made.

I’ll have to go back and watch the presentation again, because the media really wants me to believe Microsoft has some great things coming and I just don’t get the excitement. I’ll always have a soft spot for Gears, but that’s really it at this point.
