I'm not too upset about what Skylanders has started. These games are intended for kids, and kids love both toys and games. It's really no different than the huge popularity of Pokemon cards or Beanie Babies back in the day. It's just a fad and I don't think this is really going to effect the hardcore gaming community much, so I'm not worried. Now the things that bastard companies like Capcom are doing, like putting hidden DLC characters on-disc and charging for them later, THAT stuff upsets me.
In all seriousness, this is exactly why blocking used games is simply never going to pan out. This guy had to retract what he said because nearly EVERYONE was pissed off about it. Blocking used games will turn so many gamers away from your console/game that it just simply won't work. You can't piss off 90% of your fanbase and expect to make a decent profit...
This whole war on used games is part of the reason why I've been really trying to strengthen up my game library lately for all my current consoles, new and old. I'm going to make sure I have a gigantic collection of games just in case we ever see a repeat of the 1983 video game crash...
I will not purchase any console that disallows used games. I don't buy used games very often, but sometimes I'm pretty tight on money and don't have a choice. Also, I rent games and borrow games from friends once and a while. Who do these companies think they are by not allowing me to do those things? The gaming industry is just getting greedier. It pisses me off because we, the gamers/consumers, suffer for it.
