Maybe studios should manage their money better then. But why would they do they when they can just sit back and whine about used games and how they're ruining the market?
You'll get the same result either way. But the one that involves actually improving the way your company works is harder, so they'll just take the easy path.
I do feel a bit bad for the guys who were laid off, but let's be honest here... if I produced content of such a low quality at my job as they did at theirs, I'd be fired too.
Never mind the fact that we've got 3 more main Star Wars movies lined, plus at LEAST two side movies. There's a whole new generation of fans right there.
And yes, there is a demand for Star Wars games. As long as they're good. There is ALWAYS a demand for GOOD games, regardless of source material.
$60 for a game that lasts 10 hours, or $10 for a movie that lasts 2 hours.
Eh, roughly the same cost either way. The game is a little more expensive, but I guess you can play through it more than once. But, for a game as story driven as this, replay value tends to be non-existent unless there are extremely different paths to take during the story.

An always-online console does NOTHING for the consumer. There is no experience that is enhanced by the console requiring a constant internet connection.
