Only played it on PS3 really and after the patch it got I didn't really consider it an issue but the 360 version was best still from what I hear. Still the game worked fine enough, wasn't game breaking or anything.

@shadow580 Yeah, that really is the only way forward. In the end why wouldn't they want extra potential sales (more money) and less messing around (adding region locks) if it's only out in japan anyway? I figure they just need to make it not mandatory for games coming out in only one region like you said, it's just blind stupidity to cut there own sales for no reason but that's the problem when they attach blanket region locks on all titles with no exceptions.

I'm loving the look of the WIi U, looks like it'll be tons of fun if you enjoy Nintendo's more hardcore side (Zelda, Metroid, F-Zero, Fire Emblem etc.) but this is what happened with the 3DS and it's very disappointing. With the 3DS I'm just sitting around dying for games like Bravely Default, Namco x Capcom and Beyond the Labyrinth to come out.

I don't import generally, I just wait till they are released in the UK but if they never release them then what choice do I have? I love any system that is region free because it only takes 1 or 2 good titles from Japan that I'm willing to buy (they may even be ones that get a release in NA but not EU) and it's 2 good titles that I'm adding to my collection. When they region lock stuff all you end up doing is getting that feeling that you've missed out on some good games. Still in the end I bought the 3DS and will buy the Wii U since they'll have games I want anyway but I hope they learn to not region lock stuff in the future.

@RealFabioSooner It is true, I feel like we're getting western journalists wanting western games and they don't give eastern stuff a try. They'll give any half decent shooter a 8.0 but a JRPG has to be special and great if it wants anything more than a 6.5 from some western journalists.

@Shinteikun It depends on what consoles you own, I have them all so I tend to see quite a lot of JRPG but the 360 alone had Magna Carta 2, Lost odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, Blue Dragon, The Last Remnant etc. If you count the none exclusive stuff there's also Eternal Sonata, Enchanted Arms, Star Ocean 4, Resonance of Fate etc. Depending on how many you play (and whether you own other consoles for there exclusive JRPG's) there is still a decent amount to try at but still not as much as there used to be.

It's always expressed this way but it just depends on what kind of games you like really. If you're not that into shooters then I don't think the west really wins much. Fighting games are still all japan, RPG's are half and half and I've played some pretty awesome RPG from japan this generation (Lost odyssey, Blue Dragon, Dark Souls, Dragons Dogma, Xenosaga, Tales of vesperia, Tales of graces F etc,), action games (ninja gaiden, devil may cry, asura's wrath, fist of the north star, god of war etc.) are largely japanese too with god of war being the only real exception.

Hell I still like my shooters but when I look at the games I'm really, really wanting I think I'd say it's more japanese stuff than western still.

Asian - Metal Gear 5, Ni No Kuni, The Last Guardian, Tales of Xillia, Kingdom Under Fire 2 (if it ever comes out), Resident Evil 6 (does look like it's getting a little crappier but oh well), Bayonetta 2, Zelda

Western - Halo 4. Project Eternity, Borderlands 2, Tomb Raider (I currently can't remember all the games I want though).

I mean at the moment I can't remember what western games I really want that bad, it doesn't help that they've just released quite a few like Borderlands 2 and they haven't got round to announcing the next elder scrolls game etc, But the truth is eastern games dominated the PS2 era, and at the moment the western stuff is generally of a higher standard but I think more of the best stuff is still eastern. Nothing out of the west quite matches Metal Gear Solid, nothing has beaten the Xbox version of Ninja Gaiden (or PS3 if you count sigma) even though NG3 sucked, none of the western RPG's quite stop me feeling the JRPG surge and the innovative games I'm more interested in come from japan too in the form of The Last Guardian or Gravity Daze. I love both western and eastern games but when it comes to what I want the most the east wins every time. That can be different depending on your tastes but I find Japan still pumps out the majority of the best games even if western stuff is of a higher standard more often than not.

@brh2010 Bungie did quit at Reach, MS and 343 are carrying it on and the fans choose when they want to stop too. In the end people can duck out whenever they want but personally I am still happy to keep playing as long as they are willing to expand on that universe and story which they have by making it about the fore runners.

Bravely Default and Namco X Capcom would get a purchase from me, I really hope they bring them out as they'd be great additions to the 3DS lineup.

@Incubus420 If you ever do get on there strategy team do not ever consider timed exclusives to be a worthwhile investment. People won't buy a new console just for a month or two's timed exclusivity and even those who do have both consoles often just wait for there preferred platform anyway.

Well that's nice but I hope they support it better than they did the PS2. A lot of the talk of the PS2 living for 10 years was a little over exaggerated here in the UK as the system stopped having anything but shovelware (and persona 4 which was cool) about midway through the 8th year. It was more dead than alive and barely supported which is too bad since it could have done more if they just released the games and they was still doing that a lot in japan.

PS3 came out before the end of it's life and got all the real attention, most likely they'll do something similar with PS4 but I think the PS3 support will still be better than the PS2 got late in it's years but then again positive thinking in the gaming sector has mostly led to disappointment recently (damn you TGS and E3 being all about casual games and phone games for the most part!).
