People can't be too upset though. You have to look at it from EA's side of things, even if they are the 'enemy'. When you sign on to the online components of any of EA's games, the terms of use state that they have the right to discontinue any part of the online components within 30 days notice. Keep in mind that you cannot play these games without agreeing to that. It sucks, but we agree to it. If you don't want to agree to it, then you don't play the online parts of their games. Simple as that.
I just hate it when developers suck money out of a game (i.e. collector's editions, pre-order incentives, day one DLC, etc.) and stop supporting it when it stops making them money. I mean, most Call of Duty lobbies are hacked because once the new one comes out, that's all Activision cares about. They're not making anything on COD4 anymore, so why support it? I wish more developers were like Rockstar, who support games long after release. I mean look at Red Dead Redemption. It recently got free DLC for the fans and they listened to what they wanted and put it in that DLC. The very first DLC for the game was free too and both were actually GOOD. They also still play with the community on GTA IV and RDR and dole out prizes, competitions, and more, despite the fact that the game is getting a little older now. I suppose it would be nice if they just pretended to care about their titles.
Well the 'winner' as defined by both EA and Activision would probably have to be in either sales or overall revenue earned, but as far as the fans go, well I suppose user score would work there.
I'm not sure this would ever happen, but a female protagonist would be awesome. Female characters in the GTA series are just as interesting as the male ones (i.e. Ashley from The Lost and Damned DLC for GTA IV). Yeah it's probably never going to happen, but hey, I can dream, right?
I don't personally mind reviews at later dates past the retail release of a game. I mean if you have competition (i.e. IGN or Kotaku or something) then I guess that's understandable, but if you posted reviews even just one week past retail release, then I think the reviews would be more thorough and helpful, rather than discouraging to buyers or just be a bunch of outdated information on how the multi player is suffers from lag and such. Some new type of system needs to be put in place either way.
