[QUOTE="UCF_Knight"]I enjoy GW2 a lot more than WoW, and the fact it doesn't have a subscription fee is a huge bonus. The OP makes the assumption that if not paying for a subscription, we're spending money on other games. I rarely purchase new games, much less for $60, so this doesn't apply to everyone. I also don't care that people who really enjoy GW2 are considered idiots here. I never got into WoW; I've enjoyed GW2 for a couple hundred hours in just the past few months. I'm not going to change that opinion because hardcore MMO enthusiasts have some silly list as to why WoW is 'objectively' better.

I can say that I've enjoyed playing GW2 on/off. I have gotten back to it recently and it is a great way to waste time :D I haven't got high level characters yet or anything, but it is by no means a bad game. It looks great and you got tons to do. I wish there were more the same out there. A game that was meant to be a "sub-free one off payment" - type from the beginning. Not turned into one, because of various reasons.

I don't really know if I'm the right person to answer this, because I don't usually sub to any games. I admit, I have done that once in my life, with SWTOR, but that was purely, because it is Star Wars. However, I'm not ruling out the possibility of paying a monthly fee again, if the game is good enough. E.g. Elder Scrolls Online (not even knowing what the payment structure is going to be mind) looks like one I might. But yes, I would consider paying that for a good game, not in general though. Quite a few of these MMOs that have fees have nothing going in them to warrant those. That's why I like GW2 for example, because you can just play whenever you feel like it and not to worry about the rolling fees. Does it make difference thinking the maths behing it, no, not really. Only the quality of the game.

I do think so too. Once something has been screwed up, it is extremely difficult to patch things up. No matter how good the improvements. To be honest, I wouldn't buy the game just because of a patch, however seeing as I already own it, I might as well check the patch out.

I agree. I mean, if the game was GREAT gameplay and story wise, I'd be like "yay" time to replay with better graphics. But the game is bad... and a patch for visuals isn't going to do anyone here any services.

Yep, that's actually exactly what happened to me, I think. I tried the patch, and it did nothing for me. I couldn't stick even a whole mission. But like you said, story-wise this game was and is utter garbage, one of the worst "boss fights" ever and the game itself is so short as well its unbelievable. Oh well, this one is dead and buried now.

Ok, I went through the process of updating the game through Steam, and had a little play-a-round... To find out, that I can't tell any difference whatsoever, to what it was previously. It might just be me, but the game looks exactly like it was before this "patch". I didn't bother "checking" the AI fixes, because I just couldn't get myself to play it for more than half a mission. Waste of time for me anyway. If you have extra time on your hands and want to waste it, be my guest and get the update, as for me, I'm definitely done with ACM now.

Yeah, I've seen that video as well. The difference is massive compared to what you actually got in the released game. Not only did it look like crap, but there was absolutely no feel to the game, it felt completely flat. I guess that might still be the case anyway, can't change the story for example, which was rubbish.

The update is available on Steam at the moment, and yes it is 3.5GB. I just leave it to run in the background for awhile and see how it changes (if it does, I hope so). The "original" looked so bad that anything is an improvement though :D

On a sidenote, related though; Are you going to get this game, regardless if its going to be sub or not? And will that effect your decision? Is any of you going to get Defiance? I know it will sub free, but I'm not sure if I would like it or not. And is anyone getting both? Or is it a choice between those two for example, if considering new MMOs?

As I posted in my earlier post on this topic, I think I read somewhere it would start as a subscription-based model, and then change into F2P.

I have no idea if this is true or not mind, nor can even remember where I read this, but it does sound feasible I suppose, considering what is going on in MMORPG scene in general.

Sounds good, he sure seemed excited :D

Does anyone have any idea about the payment method for this one?

I've heard that they might start it off as a monthly sub one, but change it to F2P eventually. Is it true? And if so, what perks do you get if you sub? I mean, what would be the point in subscribing if after few months you just have to pay for the actual game itself a la GW2?

Has anyone pre-ordered by the way? I might, because I have been a huge fan of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim, but, like said, lack of any real knowledge about the question above and few other things, prevents me doing that at this point anyway.
