@gatsby_horror: no so far you control the camera with your head in a first person view... and the graphics are crappy but since you have the screen so close to your eyes it feels more like you are there.

I've seen many vids of Pewdiepie, Markiplier and on the React channel to not be very interested

It's not just the screen being close to your eyes. They use special lenses to warp the image and fill your FOV. If it was just a screen, you wouldn't be able to make out much.

It will succeed because there is a lot of cross platform support, so there are a lot of games that will be available beyond what has been listed. The other players are investing as much as possible to make sure their headsets succeed and it will actually benefit the PSVR.

It's not going to happen overnight. All of the tech that has supposedly failed in the past has been incorporated into VR (3D, motion controls) for a more purposeful existence. Once people try it, they will take notice, and it will be beneficial for media consumption and experiences as much as for AAA gaming.

@NexusP: Lets forget about Sony and Nintendo, cause the conversation goes elsewhere, off topic.

I am not talking only about Oculus, but others aswell.

So let simplify my original question.

Will the new COD and Battlefield 5 cost $55 instead of $50, for adding VR support from all VR makers?

We don't even know if there will be a COD or Battlefield. They aren't games that were thought off as being for VR. They will be traditional and other more VR friendly games, or maybe BF or COD VR will come along. That same question can be asked of PSVR. Still, Steam makes a healthy cut but they still have sales galore. There's one vendor that you don't have to worry about when it comes to price. GearVR has offered affordable experiences. At the end of the day, nobody knows until the marketplace exist more advanced VR experiences. With the companies you mention, it comes down to those companies, Battlefield will never be sold on the Oculus or Steam store regardless. It's on Origin.

Take a look at the Move Navigation controller. You can get one for as cheap as $10 used. You will need a Mini-B USB cable for charging and a bluetooth adapter to use with it exclusively.

You can map it to analog controls or just WASD if you using a keymapper like Xmapper or Glovepie (custom scripting).

I'm using Motioninjoy (you can use BetterDS3 as the interface for MIJ to avoid ads) as a driver y to make it a DirectInput device, but there are other driver s such as SCPDS3 or DS4Tools that will map it to Xinput.

@Coseniath: Nintendo was actually in other gaming markets before the console and have never had capital issues. Sony bleeding in their Console market didn't help much with the other markets they were also making bad decisions in. They were obviously suffering there too. Oculus didn't say they were losing money on hardware, they just aren't making a profit. They will get a percentage off software just like every other software vendor. They are also a publisher (Story Studio) and are funding other game devs. They said they have in house and nearly 100 2nd and third party games that will be available within the year of launch on the Oculus store . They've already established a marketplace for VR with Gear VR. That will just get ported over.

@KHAndAnime: Gamers are only a segment of the market. If you've been paying attention, many different industries for Car Sales to Movie Experiences have been using the Rift already, and that's just the Dev Kit.

You really don't like their latest design? I think that it's very sleek. Nobody will be walking around outside with it. I don't think the style is the most important factor when being used in home even though it's come a long why on style points.

3D gaming was amazing on PC but Nvidia dropped the ball with support for 3D vision titles. VR is far ahead of that and people are already enjoying it with the Dev Kits and now Gear VR. I've used VorpX to convert GTA IV and V to VR experiences that are the epitome of gameplay. There is a guy that created a Mod for GTA V that gives it full positional headtracking and it's well beyond simple 3D, it is full immersion being able to look around the game and stick your head out the car window, or turn your head to look at the turn before you make it. I've even played Wii games in Dolphin VR like Mario Kart Wii and Kirby Yawn (like looking at set pieces).

@Coseniath: Sony almost went bankrupt. Not a good example. At the end of the day, Oculus has to show their worth for Facebook's investment. There are stock holders. VR used to cost 10K, now it's $600 or cheaper if you have a phone that works with GearVR. People have no issue buying high end accessories like wheels and a HOTAS. Why not VR which is the final component for the ultimate gaming experience.
