[QUOTE="Nephilim83"]This thread fails. TC, I haven't found this much value in a single game since MGS4. I haven't been challenged to the point of entertainment since the NES days. This game is spectacular. Trail and error is just a new way to play. Back in the day all games were exactly the same everytime you played them. Heck, look at the MGS series. Once you play MGS4 and get familiar with it you can run through it in one sitting. That doesn't change the fact that it was GOTY and the most covetted game on the PS3. Unlike MGS4, however, DS gets much harder on the second and third playthroughs. There is reason to continue playing, too. If you want to unlock all the spells, upgrade all your weapons, or max your character out you'll be playing 4 times at the very least. And calling this time consuming would be an understatement. I haven't accomplished half of what the game offers and I've been playing it for hours on end everyday since October 6th. Maybe I'm obsessed, but I'm positive countless others would become obsessed as well. You're actually the only person I've heard a fuss from about this game. If you don't like it don't play anymore, but trying to persuade others not to play it based on some highly speculated problems that you alone find in it is terribly unfair. You're risking your fellow gamers missing out on one of the greatest games this gen because your lady witch couldn't wear gloom armor. C'mon, TC, lay off. The game is awesome. Admit it!Seritonin
I have to disagree with you on one point. DS may get harder on each playthrough. But MGS4 also gets harder. Dependiong on what you're trying to accomplish. If you want to get certain emblems then the game absolutely gets harder. I beat it around 5 or 6 times. Try beating it on Big Boss Extreme with no alerts, no kills, and under 5 hrs. One of the top 20 hardest things to do in a videogame of all time! Of all time!
You are correct, sir. If you have decided to do the impossible MGS4 can be considered one of the hardest games EVER! I got all my emblems, but with 11 playthroughs. Skill is key. The big difference here, however, is these difficult situations in MGS4 are optional. You don't have to get the Boss emblem. You could just breeze through guns blazin' for the fun of it (I know thats how I spent a few of my playthroughs!). Demon's Souls, on the other hand, makes you work your butt off if you want to see a third and fourth playthrough and its not until you've really invested yourself into the game that it really gets breezey again. You see what I'm saying? You make a good point, but its not totally inline with what I was getting at.Killzone 3, no doubt. I've tried to give Resistance an adequate chance. Played through the first and most of the second, and.....I just think they're terribley boring and uninspired. I'll rent the inevitable Resistance 3, but a purchase is out of the question.
Same here. Luckily, I rented the second one first. Its not very good. Killzone 2, however, was a very ambitious game that more than satisfied my FPS and gaming needs for most of the first half of the year. I can't wait to see what GG cooks up for the third installment. I want to slay the ISA dogs!!![QUOTE="raven_squad"]
Alright, thanks for the Maneater tips verbalfilth. :P I still haven't attempted the fight again though. Trying to get my Magic up, as the soul ray should be a pretty useful ability in that fight with how quick it is. I just need it to do more damage.
Finally killed Executioner Miralda Black Phantom, so I'm having fun messing around with the Guillotine Axe. So much quicker then the Dozer Axe, and upgraded to Crushing +4 it's still damned effective. However I've run out of greystone shards/chunks and have forgotten where to acquire them.
Also, do you guys have a particular routine for farming souls? Right now I'm starting at the Penetrator archstone, and working my way backwards towards the tower knight archstone. Lots of red eyed knights in between for a good 18,000 or so souls with nearly no opposition to speak of.
I prefer farming 4-2. The reapers are pretty easy to kill and offer a ton of souls. In NG+ you can get 16,000 souls for killing the first one with Ring of Avarice and the Soul Thirst spell. If you're alright with mindless farming while doing the same 2 minute run over and over again, you could zone into 4-2, run down the hall to shoot the reaper, run back the way you came and jump off the cliff. When you come back, collect your souls and repeat.
I get bored with mindless farming, so I usually go through all of 4-2 and place my blue stone at the end to get summoned and fight the boss.
I also like to farm here. With simply the Avarice Ring equipped the first reaper gets you 11,000 souls everytime. I used evacuate (suicide just seems too risky) to get back to the Nexus and run back to the archstone. It can get boring after a while (especially when you have to do it about twenty times to make a single level), so tfinishing the section and helping with the old Hero sounds like a good idea.[QUOTE="Nephilim83"]Man, I'm one weapon away from my Soldier's Trophy - The Phosperescent Pole. Problem is BP Lord Rydell is freaking tough. I've beeten all the other BPs with ease, but this guy can take me out in no more than three hits (I'm talking about with my Shield up!!!). So, does anyone have a good strategy for killing him? Even at HP 50 and STR 50 a straight up Melee battle seems impossible. Please, help!!!paperdollparadeI cast poison cloud on him then shot arrows at him from afar. I wasn't able to beat him melee. Thanks. I cast Death Cloud on him, but it never seemed to effect him. I can't change my spells cause I already killed everyone at the Nexus to get the Foe Ring. I may just have to wait til my next playthrough for this one. I may just need more power. I really want to beat him Melee. Man, I would be such a bad@$$. lol Thanks for the help, dude.
