AGAIN:

All genres have aged well, even Point'n'Click adventures (the tiny dribble of them still being made, largely by fans of the genre), have aged well... A genre is a genre, mate, and they don't get "old"... RPGs, FPS, platformers, adventure, stealth... It's pretty-much all good as long as you're a fan of it in the first place.

;)

I'm not picking on you, I'm just pointing out facts.

LOOK AT THE DATES IN THIS THREAD BEFORE YOU BOTHER TO RESPOND, FOLKS... It's original posting was 2009, then it was revived last year, and now it's been necro'd AGAIN.

Tons of them, man... TONS. Especially on the GameCube. And the other two systems... Too many to list.

[QUOTE="NirdBerd"]

[QUOTE="jekyll"]

It's a fantastic game, but I was outraged that for all the time I put in to finish it I got one measly trophy (excepting the game completion trophies). Seriously? How do you design trophies so you can easily only get one? Short of spending an obscene time scouring for collectibles--many of which were cruelly hidden with dirty pool tactics--you couldn't get much. By the time I got to the end I barely noticed the ending from fury that I'd wasted my time.

  sorry the point of trophies and achievements has been ruined by the fact that people expect them to just be given to them by doing easy things or just playing through the game. its supposed to be a challenge, enjoy it that way. they shouldnt be spoon fed to you

Couldn't have said it better NirdBerd. I have damn near 6000 trophies, but I have played over 470 games for PS3. Trophies were addictive and fun for a while, but then they just got old. "congrats, you beat the tutorial" "Oh congrats, you died 1000 times" "You put the game in" REALLY? :lol:

LOLZ!

Yeah, I love stuff like that...

:lol:

Trophy hunting can spoil your over-all appreciation of a game, I have found (not to make a pun). When I first started getting games with the trophy system in them, I became obssessive, but after platting one game, might have been "Resistance 2", I swore off it. The hunt had ruined my love of that game and soured me on playing R3 - Although, I have been thinking about it, recently... Might find a cheap copy so I can finally finish the series... Not that I'm obssessive anymore, or anything...

:oops:

... But I think there's a distinct difference between finishing a story, and playing so much MP that you finally get that "50,000 Hours of MP" trophy (or whatever it was) to finish the plat.

I think that people point out "strong" female characters in gaming because even though we've got prime examples dating back to Vasquez in "ALIENS", as representatives in popular media of an "Alpha-Female"... And before her, even... Who can forget Barbara Stanwyck? The unfortunate truth is that women are often criticized or castigated if they show the strength they have, from men, and then too, especially, from other WOMEN.

There is a double standard 8-Ball women are stuck behind, at least in most Western cultures. Damned-If-They-Do/Don't.

I have always loved characters like Black Widow who didn't have any super powers, but she could still hold her own against Iron Man or even The Hulk, and I'm glad they're getting some boost now as legit parts of the Marvel universe... Gone are the days of Sue Storm worrying about her hair during a battle, and just being there for Mr. Fantastic to save from harm... But the reality of it is that these women and their real-life counterparts are relatively new to the scene (Hell, the Suffragette movement was only the end of the 19th and into the early 20th century), so they are still catalysts for discussion.

It'll take another century or so before folks stop talking about it.

Super Man Is by far THE WORST character (accross all mediums) ever to have existed, he's just way too powerfull, whoever created him didn't give the concept enough thought.Lulu_Lulu

Wow, trolls have Google & spell-check, and they STILL come off as mentally challenged when trying to stir someone up...

:lol:

EDIT: Further insult removed, as the above statement, rife with spelling errors and ignorance, says it all.

I really can't stand people on this site taking cheap shots at Petit over her appearance, or life choices... You people seriously need to shut it. I have always found her writing to be some of the best this site has to offer, and THAT is all which should matter. Not her looks, her sex, or decisions to change any of the above.

:evil:

Don't listen to the children, CP, you have many fans on this forum. Keep up the good work!

It's an older title, but the first "Marvel Ultimate Alliance" is a pretty good time with two people... I think the second game was reviewed rather poorly, but you might give the first one a try.

"Guardian of Light" was/is a pretty special PSN DDL game. Really enjoyed it. So you might dig "Alliance". Similar 3/4 top-down view, with some light RPG elements like leveling up, and adding powers, abilities, and attacks for the heroes you select.

:)

If twin-stick shooters are fun for you, I also echo the suggestion of "Dead Nation". A little less-involved, no puzzles just shooting zombies and trying to get through levels, but the gameplay is very solid.

I've just gotten around to playing "Arkham Asylum" this Summer (I know, I'm failz-ful), and I really am enjoying the game tremendously... now, I have "City" to go yet, and who knows, when I finish that I may be Batman-ed out, but it's highly unlikely as I enjoy the character a lot. This being said, I am confident that the "Origins" game will maintain the level of brilliance Rocksteady put into the first two games, and the thought of a game evn larger than "City" seems a bit daunting. I think "Asylum" is pretty dang huge, on it's own. I'm sure this new dev understands what they've been handed, and I am intrigued at the idea of a game similar to "Batman: Year One" for character study so unlike a lot of comments here, I am all-for a prequel for composition... I don't make the correlation others have to GoW, which I agree, has run it's course and was kind of defunct a few games ago after the PSP entries (which, btw, I enjoyed, but enough Kratos is enough, in my book)... Batman isn't Kratos, however, so I will be watching as it is released, and what the faithful say about it...

All of this is a confused way of saying, "I'm gonna wait and see"... The initial feeling, though, is a good one on the whole.

:P

After seeing "Man of Steel", I would love to see a good Superman game in the vein of these Batman titles, and even "Captain America" which was a dead-rip off (of "Asylum") is a game I intend to play... I would like to see a dev do a stand-alone Superman game, not based on movies or anything, as Paul Dini did for Batz in these "Arkham" games... But I'm fairly certain I am alone on that one. After "Superman 64", who can blame ANYONE for not wanting it to happen?

:oops:

Still, Dini showed quite well, that a movie tie-in isn't neccesary to make a truly great superhero game. "Asylum" has wowed me at every step, and really made my Summer gaming something special this year!

We'll see what we shall see.

;)
