The PS2 version is the most "complete' ver and a must have for any PS2 owner. the PC version looks good but has problematic controls a no custom settings for a variety of computers. There is a slight chance that the Wii version MIGHT be censored as it was in Japan (less blood no oneshot headshots etc) but that hasnt been confirmed yet.

From Next-gen.biz Will this include the U.S. and Euro ver also? Quote: "Capcom's pop-art masterpiece videogame Resident Evil 4 (called Biohazard 4) was released for the Nintendo Wii in Japan on May 31, and for only 3,900 yen. That's pretty cheap! It features new Wii remote aiming, which is sure to make forearms tired in the most awesome way possible. I'm very tempted to buy this game, myself. Though I have a bit of an ethical problem: it's been weirdly censored. Though the box is plastered with a giant red sticker that proclaims "THIS GAME CONTAINS REALISTIC SCENES OF GRAPHIC VIOLENCE", a great portion of the blood and gore has been excised from the game. Headshots no longer kill, limbs can no longer be shot off. I suppose Capcom is undertaking some kind of social responsibility, trying to keep kids from understanding that shooting someone in the head kills them, though really, am I the only person who finds it kind of ridiculous?" next-gen.biz if this is true ill stick to my gc and PS2 versions thank u very much Capcom and Nintendo.

[QUOTE="rotary38"]I think it starts with the Ps2s large library of games. Everyone is sure to find a game or two or three they didn't have the opportunity to play earlier at a lower price. There are still so many games I still need to play, I mean I've just bought Ace Combat5: The Unsung War and they already have a next iteration of Ace Combat: The Belkan War. There are still so many other games out there. The consumers are playing catch up.F_Emblem

Yeah, I reckon that's a pretty good suss out of the reason myself. They develop so many games that the consumers are playing new releases, then finding there are more to play and getting those. For the business savvy, it's a real easy layout to understand :P

Anyway, most people can't afford the so called 'X-generation' consoles (Wii, PS3, X-Box 360) so go for the previous ones

I'm pretty proud of our little PS2: The last survivor of the third-gen console craze :)

UMMMM the Magnavox ODYSSEY was launched in 1972 lol That is considered by many as the FIRST generation of home consoles. the REAL third generation would probably be considered by most gamers and enthusiasts as the launch of the NES or even before that.

The PS2 is still selling more units every month than the 360 and almost twice as much as the PS3 NOW. at least in the U.S. and Japan no matter how some of the charts on the net try to skew the statistics. The Wii is outselling the PS2 times 2 and the DS well its like a supernova in the number of overall sells WORLDWIDE. My point....... WHO NEEDS A $400.00 OR $600.00 system when u can have a Wii/DS/PS2 for the same price or less that should cover just about any gamers needs in everyway be it Retro: PS2/next-gen gameplay Wii /handheld PLUS new gameplay: Nintendo D S or overall library of games in just about EVERY GENRE : PS2 .

It appears that a lot of these Red Rings of Death are indeed caused by heat. But it is not from overheating alone IT IS IN FACT A DESIGN FLAW. Underneath the chip is something called an X-clamp. It is part of the mechanism that holds the heatsink on to the chip. Part of what the X-clamp does is push the motherboard directly underneath the chip essentially helping to squeeze the heatsink to the chip. The problem manifests itself when the chip becomes hot enough to cause the board to warp slightly. The warping becomes more pronounced underneath the chip because of the X-clamp pushing underneath it (this causes a bulge - the board can bend but the chip cannot). This causes stress on the solder for the pins on the outer edge of the chip. Over time one or more of these solder points may break thus the red rings of death. Xbox-scene.com has fixes for this problem which you can do yourself if you are technically inclined. The basic gist of the fix is replacing the X-clamp with parts you can get at Lowe's or Home Depot (essentially screwing down the heatsink to the board) then overheating the chip to the point that the solder underneath remelts and fixes the broken contacts. Based on what I've read this has fixed some of the 360's that were reported to have this problem. From what I understand the Elites still have the X-clamp but MicroSoft is using some kind of epoxy to keep the board from warping so bad under the chip. Yeah, nice fix MS. How about replacing the F%&@! X-clamps with something that works without damaging the motherboard or the chip?

Because the PS2 has the biggest and arguably the best library of games of all the home consoles on the market.

megagene
Agreed remember fellow gamers ITS ALL ABOUT THE GAMES and the Playstation 2 has those IN SPADES. the Xbox had some good games and slightly better graphics and the Gamecube had some killer exclusives but the PS2 has just about EVERYTHING for any type of gamer. Being more of a retro gamer the PS2 will always be on the forefront for my gaming needs with all the incredible classic compilations that are on the PS2.
