Will my Nokia 3310 be powerful enough to handle these graphics?

@NBAmaster33: By that reasoning any game that doesn't do anything particularly wrong would be deserving a 10. Not that you couldn't use a scoring system like that, but it would be very mechanical.

Say game A has a good story, solid controls and otherwise satisfies all the usual expectations in its genre. That would be a couple of positives and no negatives, perfect score.

Game B has an absolutely amazing story, It has innovations that will change the way the genre does things and the gameplay has that quality that makes you forget about all other games for a while. However, at the time of launch game B has some slightly annoying bugs.

If you only count the amount of positives and negatives game A would have to score higher than game B. But personally i'd be alot more interested in game B.

I think it has been pointed out by Gamespot reviewers a number of times that they don't score a game by starting at 10 and deduct points for flaws though.

@cleevergreen: The way i see it a normal workday for most people consists of about 8 hours 5 days a week (or more in most countries, but Sweden probably isn't one of them) of doing whatever repetitive task your work has you doing. As an added bonus you get to act subservient to bosses/customers you may or may not like or respect.

Hard work implies hes actually doing more than the average guy, and i just can't imagine he does. At the moment he probably earns enough money to have others help with the production side of things as well.

@cleevergreen: If he can make alot of money playing games casually thats good for him. Hard to blame him for that.

But "hard work"? You're not serious are you? :D

@Darri That first part set the bar too high for the rest of the game. The first Metal Gear is still the one i like best, but that tanker part in MGS 2 was everything i would have wanted from a sequel. It was just better, prettier and more advanced. The rest of the game was good, but the story, the characters, the enviroment and the use of game mechanics didn't feel as inspired as the first one

@AtheistPreacher Agree on that one. Another on in somewhat the same style that i really like is the Soul Edge intro. I'm guessing its mostly nostalgia though. The musical montage of the characters from the series doing their thing seems to have fallen out of fashion in both games and tv-series.

As a sidenote the opening of Chrono Chross always struck me as very sad. Not sure i understood the story at all, but if i got it right the main character gets sent a few years forward in time, everyone he knows is gone and he himself is supposed to have drowned at the beach. He seemed to forget about that pretty quickly though, which made the game feel a bit weird to me. Had great music though

@swantn5 new? Isnt that what all story driven games aim for? It's not like anyone is going to code 10+ different truly branching stories when most people will only play through 1 or 2 of them. You get an illusion of choice with small side effects or you get a totally linear story with no player input.

Well thats not strictly true either i guess. Some games have done the good/bad ending that branches in two about 10 minutes before the end of the game

@bladexdsl @HonorOfGod Hate to mess up the delusional world of console fanboyism with realism, but i think both have 8gb ram so having loading screens on just one of them seems unlikely
