MLB Is Mad About This Fallout 4 Mod That Lets You Wear David Ortiz's Jersey

You can't download the mod anymore, but you can still watch the video.

The Fallout modding community continues to be extremely active now that Fallout 4 is available, but one creation in particular is drawing the ire of Major League Baseball.

As shown in the video above, modder Richie Branson created a mod that allows you to wear a Red Sox jersey with David Ortiz's name and number on the back. Appropriately enough for a baseball player, he proceeds to beat enemies down with a baseball bat (albeit one that has nails sticking out of it).

Rather than enjoying the bit of publicity this gets them, MLB is upset. "The use of these marks is an infringement of our rights. We plan to enforce those rights," a league spokesperson told the Boston Globe (via Deadspin).

It's unclear what action the league intends to take; Branson says he isn't trying to make money off of the mod. Nevertheless, the download link for the mod is now gone, and the video's description has been updated to note, "This mod was not created in affiliation with MLB, The Red Sox, or David Ortiz."

"I'm not making any money off of it," Branson told the Globe. "I'm the little guy. It would be in bad taste for them. We know Ortiz is not a zombie-killing, post-apocalyptic warrior. And that's what makes it funny."

Fallout 4, set in a post-apocalyptic version of Boston, features a number of the city's landmarks, including a repurposed version of the Red Sox's stadium, Fenway Park.

While this mod is now gone, more continue to spring up at websites like Nexus Mods. There you can find everything from improved eyes and blood textures to one that replaces the shortcut icon on PC with the face of game director Todd Howard.
