The price something is worth is controlled by the market whether used or new. The price gamestop can pay for a used game is decided by the market. The used price is what the "market" deems. If the majority are willing to sell a used game to gamestop for $20 when they just paid $60 two weeks ago then so be it. If the majority didn't accept $20 and only accepted $30 then it would be $30.

If they want to block used games they need to go digital sales where you do not get a physical copy; this will also crush used game retailers. Having a physical product and trying to tell others how to use it or what to do with it after the purchase is not how our economy is supposed to work. The licenses were setup to prevent copyright infringement.

With this no used game mentality it is only a matter of time before a movie studio owns the images inside your head, because you saw a movie and the images are their creation.

I am really surprised it has lasted this long, but go blizzard I guess. Sure I've played it like most pc gamers, but stopped in 2007 and have no desire to ever play it again. I hope blizzard is using all this revenue from wow on some cool future games.

I'm primarily a pc gamer and I consider minecraft on the same level as a facebook game. I prefer bridge builder to minecraft. I think it's great the indie dev became successful but me personally I think the game is meh, and I suspect most pc gamers who started out with quake, half-life, unreal tournament, eq, daoc, ultima, etc. probably feel similar about it.

No. Just no. My first FPS was DOOM. I've been playing PC games for YEARS. I adore Minecraft and it is anything but "low lvl." It is exactly what makes PC gaming great. Awesome games with awesome mod support. Just because it doesn't have exploding gibs doesn't mean its a facebook game.

I played doom too, and sure it started the fps craze. However it wasn't until fps games like quake and unreal tournament that online gaming really began and online tournaments and games like that.

I played doom with friends by dialing into their dial up modem too but that was hardly "multiplayer" gaming. It wasn't until quake, ultima, ut, etc. that pc online gaming really took off.

I don't see the comparison. Minecraft was originally a pc title and sony is barely in the pc game software market. This argument could be said instead look at how a low lvl pc title does so well on xbox live arcade. Whats that say about the console content on xbox live arcade?

I'm probably going to be going ps4 so I hope sony doesn't block used games, however I believe the industry is going to decide this not any one "party". I mostly game on pc so I usually pick up one console usually a sony console. For ps3 I have bought many used games. In fact my favorite game this entire generation including even pc games has been dark souls which I played entirely only on ps3 and bought used. It would have sucked ass to have to buy some stupid online pass like some EA games to play online.

If other console owners roll like me it could hurt their sales a bit.

I can live with that. I bought my 40gb ps3 for 399.00 (+tax) in nov 2007. That is a good price. I'm mostly a pc gamer and the thought of dropping 599.00 (+tax) on a console was like no.

[QUOTE="MFDOOM1983"]Yeah, it sucks not being able to access netflix, hulu plus, etc. because psn decided to go down. Worst streaming device, ever. MFDOOM1983

Actually netflix does not need psn. It will say login, but you hit login anyway; it errors out after a bit and then you can hit cancel and netflix will still work. I know this because I own a ps3 and have used it during a psn downtime period. I dunno about hulu plus but wouldn't be surprised if something similar works. Occasion downtime is expected. It happens.

Hulu plus kicked me out when psn went down the other night so I assumed the same would happen with netflix.

Ah that sucks. Ya I didn't know about hulu but I have tested it with netflix; it will still work. However I do not know what may happen if psn goes down while you are watching something on netflix it may make you log back in to netflix. I dunno.

This sounds promising. Two people collaborating who are good at what they do and that is entertain us sci-fi / game people. I just hope if it is half-life that hugh laurie plays gordon freeman. It would have to be done soon though since hugh laurie is getting older. I figure if robert de nero can play a bad ass at 52 in "Heat" then I'm sure laurie could at 54. If it had to be a younger actor it could be ethan hawke (already looks like freeman) or cillian murphy (picture with buzz cut, dyed hair and glasses) something like that.

With all the stuff abrams seems to be working on it would likely be many years from now if it even happens.
