Another thing is once you have been been building systems for a while when you upgrade your system you just need a few parts. For instance when the new consoles roll out I just need a mobo, cpu and ram which will cost less than a ps4. Half the hardware can be moved over to a new system. Some people with a recent dell pc may only need a video card and a psu to be way ahead of a ps4 which will likely cost less. I7s and i5s are pretty common just the psus suck in most pre-built systems.

It's like moving to a new house but you still bring over half your furniture with you. Occasionally you throw out some really old furniture and replace it, but if an old couch still works use it. I used a dvd-rom to install win 7 on some pc a week ago and that dvd-rom is from 2003 before the ps3 or 360 even existed yet it's still relevant today.

I have newer hardware too but the point is if you were really cheap you can actually slowly upgrade a pc over time for very cheap.

All that said I will still buy a ps4 because I like some variety.

NOLF had some good lines, however for a more recent game borderlands 2 made me laugh a few times. Most of handsome jack's dialogue was hilarious. One of the radio conversations reminded me of tyler durden. He was eating loudly and talking crap through the radio; eating while on the phone/radio has got to be one of the rudest/douche things a human being can do lol.

It has the arguably same graphics as a PC now. You can record 15 minutes of gameplay in PS4 however you can record as much as you need on PC.

On PS4 you can watch streams of you friends game. You can do this on PC now.

On PS4 you can download while playing. Ya you get my point.

So what say you?

How many gb of DDR5 do you have?

Likely the only reason it is gddr5 memory and not ddr3 memory is because both the cpu and gpu use the same memory. A consumer level general purpose x86 cpu doesn't need as much bandwidth as gddr5 memory that is why you don't see motherboards with gddr5 memory controllers and any sort of push for system ram with those throughputs. A gpu on the other hand does since it focuses on a specific type of processing that requires higher memory speeds. So rather than have 2gb of ddr3 memory for the cpu and then 6gb of gddr5 for the gpu they just stuck in 8gb of gddr5 and it's shared. Makes sense to me keeps cost down and no need to have a 2nd memory controller.

So it's a design choice probably to keep costs down not because it makes it faster than a pc or something.

Hopefully it may make me need to buy a new mobo, ram, cpu and game console. Anyone who doesn't welcome new consoles is a fool.

What are you using right now?

I'm still running 680i, q6600@3.4ghz, 4gb ddr2, and a 6950 2gb flashed to access 6970 stream processors. After swtor failed me I just lost interest in pc games no fps gams to grab me, no rts, no mmo, just meh. So hoping when these new consoles roll out something will grab me whether on pc or console.

I don't know where the online server thing came into play, but it is one user per license. Who that user is, is irrelevant as long as one user per license.

When activision for instance pays for some voice actors to go over to middle east and visit american soldiers and give away game consoles and copies of COD they aren't just throwing money away. They are banking on some people seeing that news article about them helping the soldiers and thinking activision is a good company and will buy their product. It's marketing. They are trying to make money they aren't your friend.

The business expenses such as game servers are depreciating assets. Their accountants are able to write off a certain dollar amount of taxes based on how much the server hardware depreciates per year. The bandwidth costs I'm sure is another thing they can write off, the electricity cost, etc. these are all business costs that can be written off.

So you fanboys are defending "services" they likely write off on their taxes anyway. Can you guys be any more blind fanboys?

Cranler

Unless expressly authorized by EA, you may not sell, buy, trade or otherwise transfer your Account or any personal access to EA Services, Content or Entitlements, including by use of auction websites. The depreciation and the cost to run them arent the same.

Mass effect 3 EULA http://eacom.s3.amazonaws.com/EULA_Mass+Effect+3_en_10.5.11+FINAL.pdf . Look for line that says "The term of your License shall commence on the date that you install or otherwise use the Software, and shall end on the earlier of the date that you dispose of or transfer the Software; or EA's termination of this License."

So right now EA is giving me the go ahead to sell my copy of mass effect 3 if I so choose, and the license will be transferred to the buyer.

[QUOTE="emgesp"][QUOTE="savagetwinkie"] no i won't, graphics have hit a platue for the most part, most of the features are subtle tweaks in better lighting/shadows, the most impressed I've gotten this gen is with skyrim's creation kit and getting into x3. Oh and shogun 2. By the time they show killzone 4, if it actually manages to be better than crysis 2 they'll be something else that slaughters it. Also my monitor is larger than 1080p so wtf do I care about consoles when I can already achieve higher better visuals?

ronvalencia

Because you can't play KZ4 on your PC.

PS4 is technically a customised PC.

Even more so since it seems the cpus in these next consoles may support x86 instructions which means in theory they could run windows. The cpus in the 360 and ps3 both use the power pc architecture which is why the ps3 could run linux and in theory the xbox 360 too since it also supports power pc architecture. Sure MS could make windows run with power pc architecture, but intel and MS are in bed with each other; intel owns x86 patents and MS makes most popular x86 operating system. Their business benefits each other.

They say 5 hours longand they still give it 9?

UnrealLegend

and? Vanquish is LESS than 5 hours and it scored 9 here. Lets not forget that crysis 3 has multiplayer as well...

Vanquish was excellent though.

And from the looks of it, Crysis 3 isn't.

Was thinking about getting vanquish the other day off psn. Think it is definitely worth the $20 or whatever price it is?

Hopefully the engine running crysis 3 is a solid engine crytek can license out I guess.

The controller has me a little concerned and I've never been a big nintendo fan. I think I'm going to wait and see what MS and Sony do before deciding on a console. I usually only buy one console per gen so I wait it out a little to see what they're all doing.
