@JLCrogue @xsonicchaos There's already a game that does exactly that, Galactic Civilisations (1 & 2). Great games and for me better than the Civ games.
The first Deadspace did well and was a "risk". EA then decided to continually dumb down the horror aspect of the games with the excuse that they need to make more money with each passing sequel. Eh??? The game engine is there, the same dev team is there,why the extra cost and the extra need to dumb down to get more sales?
Most comments on the Deadspace series seem to think that DS2 was more horror than action and everyone here seems to think it was ok - it wasn't, it was a step in the wrong direction and DS3 is a running leap. I'll pick this up on pirate before I even consider paying cash.
The original DS was derivative but it did what it set out to do very well and it surprised most people by being the success it was. I really don't understand this situation.
The only question that comes to my mind is : Does the patch make the game like the E3 demo? If yes, then YES! If not then, too little too late. The Kotaku articles on the subject are good reading. If they are to be believed then it is a shame they screwed up the story - for me it's more important than graphics - and they shelved some good levels.
And SEGA is still crap after all these years. Some of us have not forgotten how they screwed the Saturn up...
@masterdrat @Diarma10 Well, if it is true that TimeGate threw out all Gearboxes artwork and started from scratch, that just rings alarm bells. I'm really keeping an eye on this story, something I don't do for games anymore, but this is a clusterfuck.
ffs. I saw the videos in the previews and I was not impressed, but still, I hoped it would be fine in the end. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.
Gearbox seem to be a one trick pony. It's called Borderlands.
@Vince21C fog90 posted a clip by the Hateful Truth in his now deleted response which explained why the game was good - and it made sense (in an overlong way). I don't own a 360 or PS3, I'm not a fan of the RE series, I was more of a 2D fanboy back in the late nineties. But I enjoy gaming sites and the culture - and the reviews.
It's just nice to see a reviewer slate a game which has good production values ... because good production values does not make an automatic 7/10 - but most of the time it seems to.
