@fog90 Understood, but I was making a comment about the review, not the game. I want to see more scores that accurately depict what the author thinks it deserves, not the usual, "well I didn't like this game for this and this reason, but I think others will so I give it 8/10. If the author thinks it's a pile of steaming crap, then they should be allowed to write it as such, as long they back up their reasons with examples. Which this author does.

@Shadyhype I'm entitled to an opinion of another opinion, which is what a review is. Gamespot have been sanitising their reviews for too long, it's just nice to see a review that actually reflects the authors thoughts, not the usual 7-8 out of 10 crap we get fed.

At last, Gamespot are being honest in a review and not copping out with a 7 or 8 score to appease fans. RE 6 has been given wildly mixed reviews. Does this mean Capcom have stopped paying ad fees to these sites? Or at long last are we going to get a reviewers true OPINION on a game - which if well written is explained why it gets a 9 or gets a 4.5? I'm not interested in this game, but the reviews this game has gotten has reached fever pitch.

Please Gamespot, continue to review honestly, and less of the Warhammer Space Marine 7/10 style crap that you dole out ad infinitum.

I've not read any sign of bugs in the game. Is this more bug free than Fallout 3/Skyrim for example?

So far this game is everything I expected it to be, and more. I love the graphical style, it won't date easily and - more importantly - the gameplay is smoooooooth.

Runic intuitively know how to make a game that works. I read that they want to take a break from RPGs and move into other genres, this is good news, because these guys know how to release a game that is gamer friendly. This may sound like an odd thing to say, but anyone playing a UBIsoft game might understand.

@WillyChong I'm not sure that's what I said. If I made myself unclear then I apologise. I myself tend to wait ages before buying a game, unless I know there is no DLC etc. Certain games though I'll buy day one - Aliens CM and Bioshock Infinite are the only ones on the horizon. Gamers are getting wise to the ways of publishers. And my comment about single player games is that it pays for publishers to make MMO style games or Co-op instead of single player. Look at the new Diablo 3, this should be a classic single player game, however it's been designed as a co-op. Many shooting games are being designed as co-op too, this forces gamers to buy the original game before dlc or the "goty" release - because their friend have the game already and they want to play too. Single players games allow gamers the freedom to buy whenever they want.

@Kickable TBH I've forgotten to eat and drink during an 8 hour session with Empire Earth. After I finished the word starving just do any justice to what I was feeling.

When games get released you see comments all over gaming sites more or less saying :

"I'll wait until the all-in-one pack is released before I buy it". Gamers are getting more savvy to the ways of publishers. I'll tell you something else though, Publishers don't favour single player games for a reason...

@MJ12-Conspiracy So you're saying Transformers, that ultimate celebration of over the top CGI and bad fights where you can't see what the hell is going on is better than Sky Captain, a movie that cost a fraction of Transformers budget and was a love letter to 1930's tv serials? (And no - it wasn't about the visuals). Poor example.

As for the gaming scene, I hope Epic will focus more on the gameplay than the graphics. However, most AAA tent pole game releases wish they were movies. And then they deliver no story - just like the movies are doing now(Gears or War - could have been genius if they had inserted more story in it). But some of these big games are not even delivering on gameplay on any meaningful way either (Warhammer - Space Marine).

A great story is becoming essential to big game releases for me. Deadspace 2 has smoother playability than the first one, but the story is just weak so far, really struggling to plow through it - because the story is so light that I just don't care anymore. However Portal 2 has great scripting coupled with great gameplay. Bioshock is of course the king of great stories in action games. It can be done. All it requires is attention to detail. This of course takes time and therefore costs $$$$.
