Everyone who is unhappy with The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi should take note of this story. They brought him back because the fans were not going to accept anyone but James Gunn. If they don’t make a decent amount of cash with Episode 9 Disney will change course. Two flops in a row (Solo and 9) will force them to change their evil ways as they did with James Gunn.

I liked it. I especially liked all of the old timey games. And Ben Franklin.

Hey, Spielberg, why don’t you concentrate on making a movie that isn’t garbage, like your horrible version of Ready Player One, instead of picking on talented people like Alfonso Cuaron who actually have a vision. Yeah you were great back in the day. No doubt about it. But you’ve been a has been for at least 15 years now. Either put up, or shut up. Don’t try to ruin it for people who are actually trying to make good movies just because you can’t remember how to do that anymore.

After a lot of thought about the Star Wars conundrum I have come to the conclusion that the reason that I just cannot support the new stuff is that I cannot trust the new movies. I have two major complaints about The Last Jedi. The first is that Luke Skywalker was altered in a way that simply does not align with anything that was ever in his character’s personality. The second is that the rules of the universe were arbitrarily altered. Specifically the scene in which hyper drive is used to destroy the large ship. The lack of care for the Star Wars universe is abundant in both The Last Jedi and The Force Awakens, but I think that those two examples illustrate the problems of the new movies most clearly.

Aside from my definite dislike for the direction that the story has taken this lack of continuity is what keeps me from ever setting aside my antipathy for those two movies, and giving another Star Wars Story movie or television series a chance. How can I care about characters or situations when they will most likely not align with the core storyline or characters in a logical way? And even if one particular movie or television series does conform it will need to live in the same universe that the other bad stuff lives in.

I accept George’s 6 movies, and Rogue One as Star Wars. The rest is either bad or inextricably related to the bad stuff. I wish that I could like the new movies and television shows, but I just can’t.
