1- The author's attempt at fiction writing in the first few paragraphs was eye roll inducing.

2- Really? You want to have a character in your game whose name is one letter removed from Cumbucket? I don't know....

Pretty sure western RPG at its finest was Oblivion (yes, not Skyrim which frankly was a letdown).

But hey, personally I don't like Bioware games.

This ISNT final. Its been said already the anims are not the end product anims. Geez. The game is like one year until release or so.

That's the risk though. People REALLY have to get it in their minds this is like a playtest. It's not the finished product. Everything is still up for improvement.

Roberts has said time and time again this is bringing back the space sim to the PC crowd. If they made this for consoles, they'd have to tailor the controls and menus for the console and it would suck. You can't play a good space sim without a keyboard. There's too many functions for just a gamepad. Don't they DARE bring this to console. It's us PC space sims fans time now.

Roberts will likely do with this what i'd been wishing would happen for ten years. Have a hit and finally bring an end to the self-fullfilling prophecy that's been around since the late 90's when it comes to space sims. That it's a niche genre and that there's no market for it. There's always been a market. Younger players now are just not aware it exists. YOu've got the x series and other indies like Evochron which are great but can't achieve their full ambition on a small budget and certainly arent reaching the mainstream because they can't market their games properly. Who DOESNT want to be Han Solo or Wedge? No one. Publishers decided the genre was dead. For no reason. EA has had the license for Wing Commander for donkeys years and what have they done with it? Basically Jackshit. All the genre always ever needed was a big budget and high profile space sim project. If you build it they will come. In droves.

50$ when Star Citizen hits AND is a hit EA is gonna use their WC franchise...Except it'll be too little too late for them. God, even the ships in SC all basically look like WC ships. This is WC except by name.

Yes, let's compare video games writing to classic literature why don't we.

This isn't a literary review. If you don't know or understand why the literary standard for games is lower than that of books by legendary authors....well then i'm surprised you can even appreciate Tolstoy or Proust.

Sounds like someone is right in the middle of their literature major.....

yeah i finished my CKII game a few months ago. Started as count of Lubeck in Denmark in 1066, ended as King of Poland and Lithuania in 1453 and was really starting to eat up the HRE's territory.

Does it import like your family tree and stuff?Cause i know EUIV is not centered around characters as much.

To be fair though, i do feel that starting with the territory i had at the end of CK II probably will mean my EUIV game will be pretty easy. But its hard to resist the temptation of countinuing the saga of my dynasty

The first AC was similarly overhyped and fell short so i've been trying to be cautiously optimistic with this one.... but so far even the gameplay footage i've seen has just wowed me and unless somehow the game has a major flaw it hasnt shown yet, i think GTA V might find it hard to win GOTY against this one.... My most anticipated game this year. Crossing my fingers it won't disappoint.

CK II is the best game i played last year. Also the best strategy game i EVER played. I'm nowhere near a strategy game expert, and honestly CKII ended up being a lot simpler than id expected. It's really easy to figure out. As they say, complex, not complicated. This is really how i'd describe CKII (and in the end i wish it would have been a LITTLE more complex...)

Started as an independent Count of Lubeck, became Duke of Holstein within the Kingdom of Denmark and three generations later, I was King of Poland within the HRE. All this WITHOUT so much a war against or for Poland. Genealogy, incredible cirscumstances and later on, a few murders, made me king of Poland . By the time i finished in 1453, I was an independent King of Poland and Lithuania and i'd eaten away at most of Denmark, half of Hungary, well into former Ruthenia (that had nearly disappeared when the mongols came) and started my way into the HRE territories. I also had two counties in the middle east. Looking forward to continue the saga of my Polish kingdom in EUIV
