@M3o5nster @BiohazardXTREME But it doesn't make it a shooter. The original REs and older Silent Hill games all had guns, but I wouldn't call them shooters. They much closer resembled point and click adventure games like Mist, only with a sense of danger. The point was survival. It was better to conserve ammo and run away whenever possible. In RE4, if you started running out of ammo, or healing items, enemies would just spawn them as soon as you kill them, encouraging you to keep blasting through more enemies until you completely clear the room. It completely eliminated the survival aspect of the gameplay. I'm not saying that Evil Within will be the same way, and I'm not pre-emptively judging it, I'm just saying that until proven wrong, I don't trust Shinji Mikami on this one.
@M3o5nster @BiohazardXTREME I humbly disagree. The original Resident Evils, Silent Hill, etc. I wouldn't consider them shooters. Yes, they had guns, but the point was saving bullets, and when possible, it was smarter to run away than to stay and fight. In RE4, if you start running out of ammo, the dead enemies will only spawn more ammo, until you completely clear the room, which completely eliminated the "survival" aspect.
Kevin Smith said that the storyline is basically the best Justice League movie you'll ever see, and I'll take his word over any reviewer, when it comes to judging a storyline.
@Forgotten_Taco @BiohazardXTREME @yeah_28 Don't even get me started. I have so many problems with it it's not even funny. The levels were ridiculous, I mean lava pits? That's just silly. The characters were one dimentional and unlikable, for the most part. And Leon's casual attitude toward them always killed the tension and made the whole situation seem unimportant. Mostly it's that, just the whole storyline was silly and it really bastardized the series. The game had good gameplay and graphics, but even the gameplay couldn't be called "Survival horror". I'm gonna stop there, because I could go on for days. But as far as I'm concerned, RE4 ruined my favorite franchise.
@yeah_28 After Resident Evil 4, I don't trust him with anything. I hope I'm proven wrong, but I won't be too surprised if he manages to mess this one up somehow too.
To be fair though, Indigo Prophecy already had a really strong following, and Sony did a really great job of marketing and promoting this game. They won't do that for every experimental third party developer, especially if that game is multiplatform. It's a shame, I'm all for experimental games, I'm just saying that Heavy Rain had some advantages.
@Joeguy00 @BiohazardXTREME @JFERNANDEZ84 Unless of course, this new collection is going to be a Wii U exclusive, then it's actually very plausible for it to include Twin Snakes HD.
@Hurvl @BiohazardXTREME Right mentality, but my point is that people care more about the brands, than they do about what's so new about it. The simple fact is that if it's Mario or Zelda, it will sell.
