I can never afford a GTX 1080, 16 gb ram, a i7 CPU, a 4K monitor to be very Honest. Plus mobo, matching Cabinet, Keyboard, Mouse, Powerful power supply ETC.

Is it me or building a nifty PC for gaming is very expensive than console gaming?

Answer me please :)

It depends on the timing and what stores/deals you have nearby.

I did a build for someone in the Fall of 2013 (it was right around the time the xboxone/ps4 came out) and for $250 more than the price of the consoles ($650 vs $400) I was able to get him a Full PC tower with windows included that had twice the GPU power and over three times the CPU power (FX 8320 and aftermarket voltage unlocked 7970gz).

Microcenter near my house had a pre-built Asus on display last week for $400 and it had a 6th gen intel i5 (i5 is almost identical to the i7) with a GTX 760 (4x the CPU power of the consoles and almost twice the GPU power and it was only $400 no building required).

If you know where to shop it doesn't have to be that expensive for a very nice computer

Here is a refurbished desktop with an i5 4460, 8gb of ram, 1 tb hdd and GTX 760 for $410. Its a start

LINK

I would buy this immediately (great price and the specs are good for 1080p gaming)

Very surprised to see an i5 with a decent graphics card for that price

No, PC gamers should start buying more games at launch if they want to have exclusives.

Isn't that exactly what happened with crysis 1 ? (it outsold crysis 2 on all platforms even though it was PC only).

In this case they did buy more at launch

@560ti: There are very few jobs in the state that actually pay minimum wage.

Thats why his formula is confusing (hardly anyone part time is making minimum, let alone full time). Full time minimum doesn't exist (which is what is formula is)

I'm not talking about your theoretical performance, I'm talking about real word performance, which is only "somewhat better".

You must of never owned a 680/770 then (to this date people are getting double the frame-rate while having higher settings than the console counterpart).

The Intel i series has hardly gotten faster clock for clock from 2nd gen to 6th (2500K on stock volts is literally giving you 95% of the performance as a modern day $200-220 6th gen i5).

Twice the frame rate while maintaining better settings is hardly "somewhat better"....... (sorry that 3-5 year old technology is still much superior performance wise).

Guess what? If the consoles are under-powered, and they really are, then all those PC's that are somewhat better are also under-powered. It's nothing to be proud of. If you don't have at least a GTX970 then you might as well hang your head in shame. I see so many hermits yell "MASTERRACE010101" and then they show off their 2500k's and 770's, as if there's anything masterful about that.

Whats funny is these old ass 2500k/770s are still multiple times faster than what is inside the xboxone/ps4......... (crazy considering the 2500 came out 5.5 years ago and the 770 is a fringe re-release of a 2012 card).

Multiple times faster is not "somewhat better" (you intentionally minimizing the power difference between the consoles and old hardware because it furthers his argument that there a ton of PC"s out there that blow them out of the water).

Your formula is too confusing (in the USA almost everyone who works minimum wage is part time, full time positions usually start at least two dollars higher than minimum wage).

In the USA it takes about 7 to 8 hours of work to buy a AAA game if you make minimum wage (thats about as easy as I can explain it).

How would a hybrid handheld/console be much more powerful than that?

PS4 was mid tier at best technology wise by 2012 standards (it's not unrealistic to expect a 2017 console to at least match it power wise).

The card is garbage right now.

1060/480 are out of stock everywhere and the 960 offers no competition (are a result there selling the 470s for same price as the 480s).

It will be at least two months before we see the true $150 (4GB) and $170 (8GB) MSRP price tag

Gunsmithing, Golf, Car audio, and Folkstyle wrestling

Even though there technically hobbies I consider them talents due to the vast amount of years/hours i've spend on them ( I could easily get paid to teach all four so I would say there borderline talents).
