It would be a joke if it were rated lower than 7.0, but I think the ceiling is probably around 8.0 Modern Warfare got a 9.0. They critiqued it for having a "weak" and "short" single player campaign. The multi-player experience is MUCH better in MAG. Better team play rather, forces you to play more conseravitive, it's more punishing than running around like soldiers on speed only to instantly respawn. But how much are they going to deduct for it being multi-player only? While it's BETTER than MW2 multiplayer, other than having 256 players there is nothing really revolutionary about the gameplay in MAG. Contrast that to Bad Company 2 with the mind blowing environmental destruction and of course the tanks/choppers vehicles readily available all over the map. MAG just seems like a more hardcore, slower paced shooter but it doesn't have the "WOW" feel that Battlefield has. I'll split the difference and say 7.5 Bad Company 2 looks like a for sure 9.0+ game.

Id be interested in a few. As long as they are upscaled to HD and with trophy support. They have to be priced right too (God of War Collection was fair, 2 games for $39.99 (and it's already been on sale for 29.99) Street Fighter Alpha collection Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil Code Veronica, hell remaster EVERY old resident evil (including gamecube) and you can justify the $59.99 price. Mega Man and Mega Man X collections? Arcade collections? Okami?

Most old games become practically WORTHLESS whether they were good or bad. Video games by definition become obsolete as technology progresses. Odds are that game you may spend $50 on now, will be worth less than $5 in 10 years. Hell most PS1 games at this point are not even the time and effort to even sell on them on ebay. I donated mine to a charity and they hesitated whether they even wanted them for free. So no, it is not a good idea to buy a game because it was "bad". VERY few old games are worth money now. Of those that do it's mostly games that went on to be cult classics but may not have sold well (most likely those "classics" were actually critically acclaimed, just that the positive reviews did not translate into sales, thus making them "rare").

It could have been on it's premise. I wanted to like Assassin's Creed 2 more, but it had it's flaws - too easy combat system, no difficulty levels, some minor visual glitches hold it back. Don't get me wrong it's a great game, definitely an 8.5 or 9.0 game. But comparatively Uncharted 2 was a far more polished game and deservedly received a higher score.

There has been talk of PS2 games as well as Sega Dreamcast. But nothing difinitive. The more time goes on the less likely it will happen (at least in PS3 generation).

I would be equally happy just having a few "essential" releases done like the God of War collection. Upscaled to HD and packaged on a blu ray.

mistablair

Oh yeah, definitely. If they upscale it on blu-ray, I'd prefer that. Here's my money sony, take it.

You guys are being sarcastic right?

No sarcasm. They are taking our money anyway. If you are going to buy a PS2 game to play on the PS3 it may as well be "upgraded" to HD and on blu ray disc to make it actually worth it (otherwise why not just hunt it down on ebay and play on your PS2???). I'd rather pay 29.99 for a hard copy, upgraded HD version with PSN trophies. Rather than 14.99 for a non HD version released as downloadable content.

There are only a few games they would probably bother with giving the HD treatment. God of War series hopefully has enough success they will do a few more. Maybe the rest of them they can put up for a straight .ROM download down the line ala the PS1 classics. I don't think the downloadable PS2 games are going to happen anytime soon anyway, if ever. So really the best we can hope for is a few more of the classic PS2 games getting rereleased ala God of War collection.

I was thinking of picking this up since it's fairly cheap. How does it compare to Dirt 2 (also by codemasters)? Dirt 2 was fairly easy to win all the races until the last couple of difficulty levels. The 2nd hardest difficulty was a real challenge - but I could win with what I felt was a perfect race (for me with a controller). On the max difficulty I couldn't even win a race. Problem with Dirt is if you start getting aggressive it makes it REALLY easy to roll over and wreck. Probably didn't help that I am using the controller. Every once in awhile you run into an "expert" online. Or look at some of the people's "ghost" times and you wonder how they do it. I can't even follow their ghost.

if money is the issue, buy used games. for example, metal gear solid 4 and devil may cry 4 are $17.99. i don't mind buying used games if everything is in good shape including the instruction manual. in other words, it looks new, but it's used.

90xGrad

I already have Metal Gear 4, that was one of my first purchases. I didn't like Devil May cry on PS2 so I don't think I'm interested on PS3.

It's not really a money issue as in "I can't afford it". I just don't like overpaying and not receiving value for things. I'm fine paying $54.99 on Gran Turismo and God of War III on it's release date (with probably a $10 amazon credit on top of each). I've already got them pre-ordered. I'm not OK paying 54.99 for a game that's been out alot longer and deserves a price cut and greatest hits release. That's basically the gist of it. These games are "due" for greatest hits and count me in as one that's goign to wait. If I was a PS3 owner when they came out I may have bought a couple of them at release, but because I am a relatively recent PS3 owner I don't want to pay that much for "old" games.

These are the games I've purchased so far and i've only had my PS3 since late September. So it's not like I'm a total cheap ass.

Assassins Creed 2

Metal Gear Solid 4 (greatest hits)

Modern Warfare 2

Bioshock (since this is already 19.99 I guess it'll never be a greatest hits)

Dead Space (same as Bioshock)

Quantum of Solace

Dragon Age Origins

Fifa 10

Uncharted (greatest hits)

Uncharted 2

Ratchet and Clank (greatest hits)

Sonic Collection

Dirt 2

Midnight Club LA complete edition (greatest hits)

Motostorm Pacific Rift (best buy had it 19.99 for some reason)

Wait, there are actually people who want greatest hits games? I avoid them at all costs

The_89

That makes ZERO sense. They are the exact same game, only cheaper, and should be FULLY PATCHED RIGHT ON DISC. Also some of them come with add-in content included.

I know in the past "black edition" meant something. Heck last year I sold my Final Fantasy VII for $85 to some shmuck who cared that he had the original release. But I really don't care about that stuff. With the PS3 if anything the greatests hits might mean you get some DLC content for free, and you should at least not have to download a large patch to have the bugs fixed.

Bottom line is if it's in old game that I passed on, if I'm going to pick it up now I'd MUCH rather have it in re-released form.

I recently got a PS3, I was really excited about being able to download psone games which I've been missing for awhile. Is there any news of the same for PS2 games? Sorry if this has been already answered, but like I said I'm new to the ps3.
