The concepts behind this game were good, but I don't think it really lived up to it's potential. People have complained about a lot of things which are kind of irrelevant in this topic. The combat and gun mechanics are supposed to be clunky, I think you're kind of missing the point. Putting aside the story, this game is all about the running. Run to this place, run to that one. The combat feels heavy and unintuitive because the developers don't want you to run around killing stuff. They want you to run.
That being said, it wasn't executed in a way that I particularly liked. Trial and error in platformers is normal, but it doesn't really translate well into 3D. In my opinion anyway. I want to point my analog stick in a direction and know that my character has a good chance of actually getting there. Was this game underrated? Not really. It really could have been a better game.
If you have a PS3 then just wait for the collection. If not then you really should get around to playing it. Its not everyones cup of tea. But I have only ever heard praise for it. Im not gonna force you to love it like me and force my opinion on you. But I think its awesome. Also FFX is my third favourite game. I wish I had my ps2 again to play it. Its an absolutely astounding gameseanmcloughlin
Yeah, I just read about the team ico collection then. I'll wait till that comes out I think :).
Don't forget about the music. Music is a key in videogames and since ff8 the ff music suck ass, they are not as memorable as older ones.

It's the same with most game songs around these days. Simply put, the complexity of them makes them a lot harder for the mind to comprehend. The music in pretty much all square enix games at the moment is up there with the best.
But anyway, it's not particularly hate with all square enix games, it's just the final fantasy franchise. It hasn't produced a good game in years which isn't just a spin off from an old title.
It's in my signature. :)ChiliDragonThis all the way. I do love the world ends with you. There are some really good quotes from that game. Here's another one: "Only by allowing strangers in can find new ways to be ourselves."
Japanese games in general has problems with female leads. The problem with FX-2 was the extreme character shift of the main female character, Yuna. They made her over sexualised in comparison and it just ruined her character for me. I went ahead and found an article from The Escapist which shows my thoughts on this: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/issues/issue_279/8296-Wussy-RPG-Girls I would suggest you read it. It's quite informative. But anyway, other than that, there aren't really many female leads that I've played as, except when they're there just as eye candy.
