Definitely, without a doubt.
Halo 5 is a complete turnaround on Halo 4 and is an amazing game to boot.

if it anit 9+/10 or universally loved, its not top tier.
Halo 5 just belongs to a top tier (declining) franchise
Then explain cod. It still sells like crazy despite not getting 9 or 10's anymore. Most fps games now don't really average out over a 9 anymore. Most of the big fps games in recent years have mostly gotten 7 or 8/10.
whats their to explain?
quality wise they are not top tier....
something like COD sells because of popularity and because in the FPS category there isnt much going on unlike last gen.

Could it be that none of those games were truly great? I certainly have not seen or played or FPS this generation that is deserving of masterpiece rating. Hell I put over 300 hours into Destiny and I know damn there are MUCH better games out there. Same goes for COD, Halo, Madden, The Division, Battlefront, FIFA, etc. A ton of sales and lot of time spent playing does not equal great quality. You never see any one argue that yearly COD games are the best games around.
The thing is Halo 5 isn't even selling that great. It's a flop sales-wise compared to previous Halo games. It's getting destroyed by sales by games like COD, Destiny, and BF so even the sales argument holds no weight. It neither has the sales nor the critical acclaim of a top-tier exclusive. Uncharted 4 will most likely outsell and outscore it.
Yeah I know Halo 5 literally has ZERO ground to stand on as top-tier exclusive. Microsoft is just going to milk the people that still care about it as hard as possible.
Like I said, Halo 5 its self isnt top tier, but it happens to belong to a top tier franchise and because of that it holds attention.
Do you consider Halo 5 a top tier exclusive?
Do you consider your stool a top tier exclusive?
It's the same thing.
@quadknight: why would you be laughing? Uncharted is by far the most hyped game this generation on the most popular platform. It's expected to outsell Halo 5
It has to outsell Halo 5 by a factor of two to actually outsell Halo 5, the install base is twice as large.
To beat Halo 5's attach rate the game would have to sell 8-10 million.
Dude you're fucking delusional. It's sad that you have to make up rules because you know UC4 is gonna outsell Halol 5.
@SolidGame_basic: Not even a little bit. 343 has failed to capture the Bungie magic that made their Halo titles so memorable. Sadly, not a lot of people realized the poor direction they were taking the series with Halo 4 because they were wrapped up in the cheap and poorly executed plot device of killing off Cortana. But without that narrative to distract gamers, they've realized how ill-equipped 343 is to handle the Halo series.
@cainetao11: I'm not doubting you or anything I just need more proof than "it sold millions". Infamous Second Son and Driveclub sold millions too but I wouldn't call them top-tier exclusives either, just saying.
No I hear ya dude. I didn't do this search on what MS said last night. It was like when they started this spiel about having the top ten selling console games of 2015. Like I said when I saw Halo 5 on the list I was like "nah". In straight up sales numbers with no qualifiers it wasn't, period. But to say it doesn't have popularity when it still is talked about, it still is supported and being played is a bit much.
Yea, you're right perhaps I was a bit extreme.
It still is popular I guess just not as popular as I'd expect a top-tier exclusive to be. It's still a good game though and the fans enjoy it, and that's all that really matters.
Whether it's a top-tier exclsuive means nothing. R&C is one of my favorite games this gen and I don't consider it a top-tier exclusive in that sense.
I may give R&C another go. Tried them way back and just couldn't get into them.
Killzone SF is better than Halo 5 so no.
Halo 5 has outscored, outsold, and has a way bigger online playerbase than that game in the same period of time by at least 30X and maybe as high as 50X or 60X. It's population retention is also way better than Killzone SF.
@sholoza: name one competitive shooter on X1 besides COD.
There's a reason Halo 5 sought after...and it's a good chance it has nothing to do with it being really good.
@sholoza: name one competitive shooter on X1 besides COD.
Halo 5 and soon Gears 3. PS4 is the casual system.
lol that's funny you talk about what's casual. PC is THE casual system with the most casual players of any user base.
@sholoza: I meant to put in Halo 5 as well.
The pioint is besides CoD there's only Halo 5.
Not many options.
Best online shooter I've played in years, and for me its the best gameplay of all Halo games. It's a matter of preference though if you enjoy the game as it is quite fast paced I find. Very competitive too, tons of skilled players online.
Killzone SF is better than Halo 5 so no.
lawl
Never mind him, he's a calf in training to become a cow, but none of the super cows will tutor him because he's an embarrassment to their religion :P
@super600: More kids playing doesn't mean much and score isn't really everything.
So if scores don't mean much then why did you go to all this trouble creating a thread that failed about how Xbox games are not as good anymore because their scores (user scores I might add) were lower now then last gen???
http://www.gamespot.com/forums/system-wars-314159282/generally-are-xbox-exclusives-less-enjoyable-33102897/#97
But now because someone users scores against your beloved PS4 they don't matter any more
The thing that bugs me most about Halo 5 is how the character animations update at 30fps. It is especially jarring during MP gameplay.
@sholoza: I don't really play enough competitive shooters so I can't answer that question. The point is that you can be a shooter fan on PS4 and be perfectly content on not playing Halo. Call Of Duty, Battlefield, Destiny, Rainbox Six Siege, Battlefront.
And judging from how Halo 5 performed compared to its predecessors even Xbox owners are not exactly crazy about it any more. Call Of Duty has taken a shit on Halo as far as mindshare is concerned and Halo is not getting it either. In fact I think it will get worse. Hell Titanfall sold more in the first month(just talking NPD) and scored higher than Halo 5 did and now the sequel is coming to PS4 this Fall.
Face it only hardcore Lems are still in love with Halo. It is not 2009 any more
@mems_1224: No the argument is there are enough good shooters on PS4 that Halo 5 is not a compelling enough reason for the average non-Lem to buy a Xbox One just to play it.
Halo used to have that kind of pull...it doesn't any more.
@mems_1224: That is your opinion. The market seems to disagree. And even if it was better than those games it still isn't good enough to justify an Xbox One purchase on its own when there are plenty of good alternatives available on PS4.
@mems_1224: Because they like PlayStation exclusives better and you can get better versions of just about all those other shooters and just about every other multiplatform game on PS4.
Halo has lost a LOT of prestige. You Lems can't hold it as some trump card any more. 84 metascore and sales falling off a cliff. Your argument is the stupid one. When Xflop is cheaper and supposedly has thus amazing Halo game why do people keep choosing PS4?
If Halo 5 is so great why isn't it selling more systems? I know you love your shitty shooters though but FPS are the fast food of video games and a mediocre Halo game is not gonna move the needle for Xbox.
Microsoft need a new hit exclusive IP yesterday. Too bad Quantum Flop wasn't it.
@StrongBlackVine: ok, what if they don't care about PS franchises and small graphical differences?
Halo has lost prestige but it still has more than most PS games. What point are you actually trying to make other than being a butthurt little troll? Clearly the market has spoken because they seem to want to play their multiplayer games on xbox, not ps4.
@mems_1224: The Division, Destiny and COD Black Ops 3 and Star Wars Battlefront all sold better on PS4 even in the U.S. Shooters just like everything else not named Minecraft sells better on PlayStation now.
Uncharted and The Last Of Us have more prestige than Halo at this point. So does Bloodborne. I'm not certain of this but I have strong feeling the first GT on PS4 will outsell Halo 5 as well.
Also why would I be butthurt about an average shooter than flopped when I don't even really play them competitively outside of Battlefield?
Even you know no one is playing Halo 5 for its shitty campaign.
@sholoza: There is no exclusive RPG close to Bloodborne on Xflop. There is no exclusive action/adventure game on Xflop that is close to Uncharted or The Last Of Us. There is no exclusive character action game on Xflop close to God Of War. Yet I see Lems hate on those games all the time. So what is your point?
@mems_1224: I bought the OG Xbox on launch day to play Halo Combat Evolved. You know nothing of my history with games. Just because I dislike Xbox now doesn't mean I always felt that way.
@mems_1224: But PlayStation has all those games(will have ROTR by the end of this year) and exclusives that are better than those games in the same category. Sunset Overdrive was basically on par with InFAMOUS SS critically, but unlike inFAMOUS SS it was a commercial dud.
@mems_1224: The weak campaign. Even if it has an amazing competitive MP that is still only half of the game. A half that I don't care about.
@sholoza: name one competitive shooter on X1 besides COD.
Halo 5 and soon Gears 3. PS4 is the casual system.
lol that's funny you talk about what's casual. PC is THE casual system with the most casual players of any user base.
The thing about PC is that it's also the most hardcore. It has the most complex and highest skill cap genres, and the biggest e-sports scenes. PS4 kind of seems like a kids toy in comparison.
Back on topic: There is no exclusive shooter of Halo5 caliber on PS4, as far as skill cap or competitive natures are concerned. So I found it odd that PS4 fanboys diss Halo5 in this thread when PS4 has no exclusive like it.
I'll agree that PC does in fact have the deepest games, but mostly because of its RPGs, not lolshooters. But it's dumb to use terms like "hardcore". One can be a dedicated gamer or a very casual gamer. Calling an entire platform a "kids toy" is nonsense, because even on PC you're playing video games. If you wanna talk about things that are manly, find a stronger hobby or pass time like acquiring tools, using chainsaws, working outdoors, racing sports cars etc.
I wanted master chief as the lead character was a little disappointed with playing as locke ... still enjoyed it and yes its still a top tier franchise ... mp i was never a fan of but i do like Warzone firefight and free maps to not divide the community ... always in support of free dlc and gears of war 4 is going to do the same with free dlc ... its good to be gaming on xbox
*shudders to think what playstation gamers play online* killzone lol
@mems_1224: I don't really like shooters, but I thought Battlefield 4 was the best so far in terms of competitive play. The scale of the maps and vehicles put it above the standard run around and shoot people matches. I had the most fun in a shooter this generation playing co-op in Destiny, but that was mostly because of the people I played it with. I did not like Black Ops 3, Battlefront or The Division. I have Wolfenstein, but I have not played it yet. It is story focused so I'll probably like it though.
Borderlands 1 and especially Borderlands 2 are probably my favorite shooers of all-time.
