Outside of the bugs in game (which is surprising from a Obsidian title) which have been fixed for the most part. New Vegas is a superior game compared to Fallout 3.I'm shocked to see all the love for New Vegas. It's rare to see a game that's so similar to its predecessor, yet inferior in almost every way, and still be so widely accepted.

I guess that just comes down to a matter of opinion. While neither game was known for having an outstanding story, I hated the story in New Vegas. By the end of the game I no longer gave two hoots about who I was fighting for or what my apparent victory meant for the people I supported. I. Did. Not. Care.[QUOTE="jubino"]

It wasn't the story for me which I didn't care for as well (same goes for FO3). Now it did have better writing and far more interesting character. IT was the character progression it seemed more fleshed and provided more depth compared to Fallout 3.[QUOTE="jubino"]

Fallout New Vegas has a bad story as well, but the overall writing, less nonsense that felt completely out of place, quest design, choices and consequences, far more grey world as opposed to Fallout 3's black and white factions, reputation system, lack of level scaling, characters, hardcore mode and overall better roleplaying made New Vegas a far more enjoyable game.

The only thing New Vegas is worse than Fallout 3 in is in terms of how big its advertising campaign was. Its main story isn't anywhere near as stupid/cliche/illogical, its RPG elements are stronger and more balanced due to the lack of useless/overpowered perks, its writing and characters are far superior, its graphics are practically identical, its gunplay is better (because it's actually viable to shoot things without using VATS), its reputation system is easily more effective than the binary morality system (because you can't reverse any amoral/undesirable actions simply by giving away purified water in F:NV) and its quest design is incredibly flexible.
Wow, it's a dead heat between Oblivion, Demons Souls, and Mass Effect. Personally, Oblivion is my pick. I hate Bioware games, They aren't even real rpg's. Mass Effect is a story driven action game (and a weak one at that) with a few rpg elements and a dialogue tree thrown in.

I thought Fallout3 was very average, while New Vegas was fantastic. Only thing that Fallout3 did better imo was the radios/soundtrack. Everything else was better in New vegas to me. It felt like a real fallout game, had much better dialogue, story, better gunplay (zooming down the scope ftw, characters, far superior questing and quest structure, crashed less for me, more missions, higher fun factor, better level design, and the new factions aspect was great to imo.

A story driven game that lets you interpret your character in your own way defining his/her place in the world, and even customizing the character according to cIass and unique abilities, progressively growing more powerful.
Yeah, I think I finally understand why its RPG categorization is in dispute. It all makes sense now.
*head thuds on keyboard*
Oblivion and Mass Effect were my two favorite RPGs of this gen.
I really love Nier though, its really one of my favorite games now.
Why isnt the witcher on the list? imo its the best rpg this genjoel_c17Agreed, I wonder what the poll would be like if it was...
Ooh mention some. DS games are being neglected. I know it has good RPG's, but I have only a few. I think Bowser's Inside Story was actually one of the better RPG's this generation, even if it is kind of a weird RPG.Am I the only one that thinks the DS had the best rpgs this gen?

Fallout 3 easily..completed it least 5 times, great addons with a lot of nice content, fairly nice gameworld in correlation to its story and a well paced story in comparrison to New vegas which seemed dragged out as much as possible sometimes.
Considering the amount of time i've spent with it (well over 200h tbh) and the amount of fun i've had playing it and just recently bought goty on 360 on an amazon binge i can easily say this is probably my favourite.
Inb4 play FO1 and 2, i already own em :P
Mass Effect 2 takes the lead, thanks to me 8), I actually would've voted for Origins, but Mass Effect 2 was tied with Demon's Souls, and that simply could not do so I gave Mass Effect 2 the lead. DAO > ME2 >>>>>>>> DS.
Shoaka
You have done the Citadel proud 8)
I would say something like "there's a lack of JRPGs on the poll" but there's a reason for that...Shadow-Elite
Like the lack of role playing in JRPGs? ;)
