Hell it got me trou Crysis on Oblivion. When I get a job next summer I'm getting a new rig with a 8800 GTX!

WHY? By next summer the 8800GTX would be a huge waste of money.

Why would you undershoot so low on the video card department when you spent so much on everything else...seems odd.

2 8800gt's in SLI seems pretty high-end to me.
he would be better getting single GTS512MB 8800 and overclocking it. or single GTX9800/shadowcreaper
Well yeah, not saying two GT's isnt high end or expensive but hey if you got the money then why not get two GTX's?
But it really doesnt matter.

I went from 2 8800 GTS cards to 2 9800GTX cards and had about a 95 point 3dmark increase. I wish I had done more testing with games to see what kind of difference I was really getting considering 3dmark is getting to the point that it is mostly affected by CPU speed.
That 1000W PSU is going to be overkill by a long shot. I'd be surprised to see your rig ever break 500W even in 3xSLI. Mine never goes over 300w or so with 2xSLI.

I could hit 432 under load with 2 8800 GTS in SLI. You don't want your PSU over 80%of maximum capacity to prolong the life of the PSU and reduce heat build up. I calculated the amps and compared them to the required amps to know that the 620 would have to run at full capacity just to accommodate my system under load. I OC everything.
About your 3DMark score, something is wrong with your rig or cards. Could be a lack of power to them.. I score 15056 compared to the single 8800GTS 13784. Pretty big difference imo. ;)

What 8800GTS and was it overclocked?G92's and yes, both were OCed as far as I could push them. As well as the CPU was OCed to 3.8 for the 3DMark06 test. Now the 8800 GTS 512 scores match closer to the 8800 GTX, not much of an upgrade between those 2 tbh.
Don't get me wrong, I didn't obtain that amount of useage unless I was stress testing my system for stability. Generally I need about 48Amps minimum to run my system and 3 9800GTX OCed under load. 48Amps = 576Watts. I could get away with a 750Watt PSU and maintain the 80% from max wattage under load on my current system. Might as well grab a 1K since the price difference isn't that great and I plan to add a raid 0 later on and it would future proof for future upgrades.
Edit: had to correct a typo about the 8800GTS and GTX.

Ya definitely DONT do tri-SLI 9800GTX on a 620W PSU.Minimum I would go is the corsair 750W PSU.And really for such a setup it's ok to go with a 1000W one.You are spending $1000 on graphics cards so who cares if a few extra $ could be saved on the PSU.G92's and yes, both were OCed as far as I could push them. As well as the CPU was OCed to 3.8 for the 3DMark06 test. Now the 8800 GTS 512 scores match closer to the 8800 GTX, not much of an upgrade between those 2 tbh.

Exactly, you can never go overkill with a large PSU at the rate that new hardware comes out and as often as I upgrade.

I ran 3Dmark06 twice and scored a 12169 the first time and a 16500 the second time with 2 8800 GTS cards and no OC. The difference between the first and second run was swapping a Q6600 out for a QX6850.
Leaving in the QX6850, and after swapping out to 2 9800GTX's, it went to 16595.
CPU upgrade = ~4400 points. GPU upgrade = 95 points.
Nothing wrong with the hardware. I am currently running a 1000W PSU and plan on swapping it out for a 600W I bought. 3DMark06 is just more CPU focused now then it was before when scores were lower. That always happens with the 3DMark benchmarks. Later in their life they barely see improvement in scores with video card upgrades. Try leaving your GPU without an OC and tinker with your CPU OC. The difference will be a lot bigger then what you gain with a GPU OC.

The ONLY reason for that is that you are running 3dmark in the default settings.Obviously at 12x10 with no AA,some 8800 or 9800 SLI setup would bottleneck even the best of the best CPU's.Try running 3dmark at something like 16x10 with 8xAA and then it wont be as much CPU dependent anymore.;)

It requires a simple.......nah I dont wanna get moderated.:PYou can use crysis benchmarks then.As long as you are only comparing nvidia cards then it's quite a good way to compare cards.

Never heard of the GTX 280. Is it a nvidia geforce card? Can you send send me a link please? And is it gonna be better than the 8800GTX? Also what's better, the 8800GTX or the 9800GX2? And how much will the GTX 280 will cost and the release date?
